When autolumination told me they would no longer replace them under warranty, and i gave them "deuces", i kept the old bulbs and heated them up to take them apart. I found the ground wire connecting the circuit boards to the socket contact points to be burned in half so it took the whole bulb out at once. Replaced the broken wire with a slightly larger gauge and gave them to a friend that used them for about a year before rear ending someone. The final time that they failed for me, the hazard lights had been on for an hour and a half while i was hung up on a hill in 9in of snow on an unplowed highway. The long duration of time on allowed the thin wire enough time to burn in two. It could be solder joint(s) but i would not waste my time on repairing them since it could be multiple breaks. But then again they are 80 dollar bulbs.

I ended up just throwing them away...both bulbs were bad, and I didn't have any time to play with them. I'm running a set from MaxPower now, and so far...no issues.

The switchbacks I bought from James are vleds I think and they are great so far. Slightly bluer than I would prefer but I gotta match my headlights to 6k before I really decide.
