I thought you needed to use a special kind. I was told if we didn't it would gunk up everything.

Yeah don't get it from there. you need at least 4 gallons of 100% antifreeze if your doing 50/50 so $22.50 + tax x 4 its close to $100 but I did 70/30 because down here in Denver winter time gets -30 with the windchill, walmart has Prestone for $12 with tax I use 5 1/2 gallons antifreeze with 2 1/2 gallons of water.
One difference I notice is the temp needle gets to the mid position faster then before is that a good thing?

I emptied radiator..then used distilled water to flush it completely.
Then poured in Prestone. Its green color. I m at 89 K but still I sneaked thru the radiator and as fas as I could see it was all still shinny

Here in LA the temps are above 70 F these days. I go for long trips, so used DEI thermal relief ( similar to Redline water wetter ) along with the antifreeze. Warm up time definitely reduced. I drive 3 miles to my office and I know exactly at which stop signal the temp needle reaches at the middle. After the flush and DEI, for sure the warm up time reduced.( means faster heat transfer ).

Last long weekend I went to Sequa .outside temp was above 105 F always and drive was hilly. With full AC and all day drive I checked my temp that ECU reported ( thru ODII scanner ) was 206 F. That was pretty impressive. I was rather amazed and happy .

Not to call you out or anything , but please post where in FSM that it needs 8 gallon.

When you do a radiator flush the most would be a gallon and half , there is NO way you can drain the block unless you have a vaccum, and even tho the block does NOT hold that much water.

you understand that 1 prestone is a gallon,

with my Koyo Radiator in my 240sx , it holds excatly 2 gallon of coolant.

you understand how much 8 gallon is ? I can take pictures of a VQ bare block and I can show you thats its impossiable for 8 gallons to be filled in a block and radiator

5 QTs of Oil and 8 GALLONS of water ? the OEM radiator is not thicker than my Koyo.

Just clearing this up

The block has 3.5-4.0L of distilled water and radiator 3.5L of coolant (total capacity is around 7.5L including heater)

You really need just 1 gallon of coolant.

1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters
