I have used impact gun before to change my lowering springs and man its was easy as shop. So now i want an Air Comp.. I dont really know much about an Air comp. so help me out guys. How much PSI do i need to open the lugs nuts and work on major stuff on a car? i been told an 2.5hp 125psi with 21 gallon will do the job? Any help will work lol

If you go to Sears and look around, their compressors have stickers on the side that will tell you exactly what tools they will run. Get the most/biggest compressor that you can afford.

21 gallons is more then enough for air tools that will run anything.

Isnt PSI more important than tank size??

PSI and CFM are what you want to look at. Just because the tank is big doesn't mean much. For a good compressor plan on spending $600-$1000 or more even

I spent about 300 or so on a craftsman one and It could be bigger. I work in a shop and use air tool like theres no tomorrow. The home one gets the job done, but it runs alot, an impact wrench or an air ratchet it works ok, but using a die grinder or a cut off tool the compressor will run forever and even then it'll struggle. As far a impact gun, spend 200-400 on a good one. I'd use Ingersoll Rand, I have a impact gun($300ish) and impact ratchet($350ish). But mind you, I use these all day long, so they're very reliable.

I bought mine at sears. It came as a combo compressor, impact gun and rachet. It goes up to 140psi. But it runs all the time at anything over 90psi. Using the rachet and impact gun its cool fills up and shut off. Oh it a craftsman and I've had it for 6years no problems.

If it runs all the time, then it's too small for the tool you are using. I have a 60 gallon Craftsman Pro, and I run my impact gun and air ratchets at 140psi with no problems at all. My impact gun didn't have ANY balls at 90psi, but at 140psi it will remove anything.
