Default Nissan Maxima Recall

I've just got a letter in the mail that there is a VEHICLE RECALL NOTICE for 2007 Nissan Maximas. This is what it states:

URGENT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

Your vehicle may be under at least one, and possibly many (un-repaired) factory - issued automotive recalls. It is extremely important and in your best interest to get them inspected and/or repaired at NO CHARGE TO YOU in order to ensure that you and your family are driving a safe vehicle.

For all that may have not received this notice than this shall be a reminder to get your car to your local dealer to get it checked and repaired as soon as possible. I don't want anybody to drive around without adequate knowledge of the situation at hand.

Thanks

Yeah, that's the thing about the notice that I found confusing but I'm gonna call the dealership soon and ask what's the problem and make an update for this.

Just got the notification today and wanted to post this so that people will know there's an issue.

I've got an 07, and just had it at the dealership for an alignment. They didn't say anything about a recall, and I haven't received anything yet. Keep us posted.

Doesn't make much sense. There has been only 1 recall for the 2007 Maxima. It could be true but that type of information is very vauge and not something Nissan would send out.

Attached is what an actual recall entails.

Default Re: Nissan Maxima Recall

or in short
"Recall Summary
CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN 'INTELLIGENT KEY' FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 114, "THEFT PROTECTION." DURING AN INSPECTION OF SOME VEHICLES AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED WITH THE IGNITION KNOB IN THE "OFF" POSITION BUT THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION NOT BEING IN THE "PARK" POSITION.

Consequence
IF THE KEY IS TURNED TO THE "OFF" POSITION WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION BEING IN THE "PARK" POSITION, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE STEERING WHEEL CAN LOCK WHEN TURNED TO THE RIGHT"

When I worked at the dealer we would send those out jus to get people into the shop n try to sell them some shit. Normally they would tell u the details pretaining to the recall.

^^^ You got it man. Just got off the phone with the dealership and the person I spoke to just said that my car was up to date and good. They said it had something to do with the configuration of the roof for the SL's and not the SE's.......

Really didn't get into the details so I think they were just bullshitting. But yeah, the dude I spoke to told me himself that they send these letters out to people that haven't been there in a while.
