Wait wat you have an 06 with 28k miles, damn, was this car never driven, LOL. I have been using Mobile 1 5w 30 full synthetic since 15k miles. I believe you can switch to synthetic wiht no issues if you would like.

Also, there is a thread on here of what oil people use. I will try to find the link. Honestly, i believe folks use oil they perfer or had experience with in the past.

Thanks alot for the info, im switch over to castrol syntec, i think its worth the $.

Yes its a 2006 Maxima with 28,506 to be exact, my sis bought the car back in the summer of 2008 with 10,031 and earlier this year they bought a Yukon Denali so the Max was only used maybe once a week so they decided to sell it and now its mine lol

Probably one of the best purchases you will make, LOL. congrats on the car. Now back to oils, again its your personal preference on what to use. I think most of us use what they are confortable using what they used in the past.

Any name brand synthetic should be fine. I use either Castrol, or Mobil...whichever is on sale at the time.

You won't feel any seat-of-the-pants difference. As long as you use a name brand, quality oil, you'll be fine.

The days of the 3K mile oil changes are long gone, my friend. You can go 5K-7K between oil changes now. I still like to change mine around 5K.

Hawaii, How are you,
I have driven less than 1,000 miles in 8,months. I always changed my oil religiously going by the Nissan recommended mileage. Do I need to change it by the amount of time in months since I am not putting miles on the car? It has not been changed in 6 months. What should I do?

Thanks for the info guys, i already setup in the service screen to 5k instead of 6k

I have another question but this 1 is about anti-freeze, it seems that a hose that goes into the transmission cooler or oil cooler i forgot which one or if i am saying it correct, well it has a leak and i notice that my reservior will not have or will be low on anti-freeze my bro-in-law told me only to put the Nissan OEM anti-freeze, that his mechanic said he dont recommend any other because it can cause damage, is this true? I only had to use alittle anti-freeze not much however i still have a gallon of the oem nissan antifreeze that is what i have been using, should i go to the dealer and buy more? Or i can use any anti freeze like Prestone ?

Thunder, I would go every 6 months if you're not driving the car that often.

Also, I'm fine, thank you...yourself?

I've heard only to use Nissan antifreeze, but I'm not sure. I know I had to top off, and I used some universal antifreeze that I had in the garage. Maybe MrDolla can chime in here?

I went to the dealership to ask about the antifreeze and the guy said you can use regular antifreeze as long as it's the green color one. My car has been working just fine.
