Default ATF Mer 5

I have been going over the receipts from previous maintenance that was done to my 05 Maxima se and on one of them they did a transmission flush or change (used 6 qrts.) and they use ATF mer 5 is what it says on the receipt. I am wondering if they use the wrong transmission fluid being that the maxima is suppose to have Nissan transmission fluid matic k. My car has 37 K miles on it and seems to be shifting a little hard out of first into second. Any thoughts on what I should do.

It's messed up on their part because I called and they said that's the part # for matic k. ( that is just stupid). I really don't think they would only charge 3.89 for a quart of matic k. But they would for a mercon V. I am thinking of emailing Corp. and see if they say the same as the parts person at the dealership.

Well I am just going to order 12 qrts of matic k and do 3 drain and fils to see if it helps and give me peace of mind. Almost been talked into the royal purple atf but still feel like matic k is the way to go.

What do you put in your transmission? And if not Nissan fluid, do you feel it is better?

I just put 4 quarts in last night of the purple. Going to do it again after work an maybe one more time. Noticed a change in my idle after first drain and fill. Do we have a filter in the transmission that should be changed?

Just did mines the other day. I used Nissan K-Matic. Got a good deal on it. I also have a tranny cooler, so its takes an extra like 1-2 quarts. I check the dip stick to make sure its at the correct level.

As long as its K-Matic compatible, you should be ok.

Generally about 3.5 quarts. I would get an extra quart or two just in case.

Did another drain and fill with purple today. Compared the drained fluid from today with the one yesterday and could tell a difference in thickness and color. The one I drained today was still quite dark compared to fresh fluid but was a little lighter than yesterdays. Today I only put in 3.5 quarts instead of 4.
Wondering how many more drain and fills will get me close to clean? Thought I seen something about 2 times gets you 46% and then 10% every time after.

A few years ago, I think it took me 2 Drain-Refills to get the fluid to a nice bright red. Drove it for a few mins in between each drain/refill.

When I did my drain-refill a few days ago, it was nice and red after the first refill. Mind you it was like after two years.

I think I could get away with just 2 d&f's but I want to get as much of the old kind of fluid out and have a majority of the purple. Hoping 1 more will get me there but I think it may take up to 3 more times.

Was at a long red light tonight and noticed a rough idle tonight. Hoping it's just because I only put 3.5 quarts in instead of 4. Otherwise tyranny is shifting smooth. I have a hard time reading my dipstick as it usually has fluid above the measure lines. Maybe I Am looking at it wrong.

If tranny oil s ok , it might be something else . Did you changed the camm & or crank sensors yet !

Might need an injection service also . I mean having the injection system cleaned up , a good thing to do . I need to have it done on my ride .

No I haven't changed any sensors yet. Only have 37k. Wouldn't think sensors would be bad. What is a good way to check them?
