Default Window No Longer Works

Hi y'all. I have a problem, im having issues with my driver side window on my 06 maxima. First, the window was acting weird when rolled up or down, and now wont even roll down at all. I took it to the dealer, and they quoted me about $300 to fix. Is there a cheaper option?

If they gave you a price, then they must've told you what part needs to be replaced.

What part of it is bad? The regulator? Switches?

Yeah would need to know what the bad part is to help you further.

I would probably have gone to the junkyard to grab the part if I knew exactly what it was.

Damn!!!! $382 for a window motor?!?!?! Where are u from bro? I had a similar issue with my front passenger window motor a few months back.. Took it to the local auto glass shop for a replacement which i got quoted $140 installed but they ended up just pulling the bad motor out cleaning it real good and my shit was working like new for only $60... I suggest u shop around.. if u got and auto glass shops in ur area check em out if not holla @ Dolla and see if he can get u one and ship it to u if ur not local i can guarantee itll be much less than what they charging u for the part @ the dealer..

You can get the window motor new from RockAuto for about $100, and you can find a 5% discount code if you poke around Google. Install is pretty straightforward. It will take you longer to pull the door panel than to replace the motor.

Hopefully its just the motor thats bad , I had a Celica with the same issues, customer was told to replace the motor , she brought for me to change it but I went to troubleshoot it first.

trusty test light show me it was the switch that was bad, so I save a little money on the customer.

Another thing that my boss told me they do in the U.K. when the cars go for M.O.T. ( sort of like emissions in the States )

They acutally silcone spray into/down rubbers and roll the windows down and up , to keep them fresh... I start doing this once in awhile.

also if your going to replace the motor , I would spray a little silcone spray on the tracks as well.

Autozone is showing some...$70 without the gear

$110 with the gear

You could also always hit up Raul (MrDolla) and see what he can hook you up for. If you know exactly what you want, I can hit up my Autozone, and see what the commercial price would be, then I'd just have to ship it to you.
