Default Tune Up Needed at 130k

Whats up guys my car is screaming for attention and i dont know where to start. Tax money is here and id like to put it to good use. The Nissan dealership is looking to get $800 to fix a motor mount then $550 to replace a blower motor

my 1st question is should i let Nissan do the work for this and a tune up or go else where

Next im having trouble with my defrost and i read up that our cars have a problem with leaking hoses i believe

photo.jpg

a while ago i noticed this was leaking i guess antifreeze and this is what its like now

I can't say for sure, but $800 seems high for a motor mount change. I'd shop around for that one if you can.

I'm the type of guy that will pay extra for a dealer to do tune-ups and scheduled maintenance. I'll pay some extra do have it done by manufacturer certified techs, especially for something I can't do myself; almost no value for peace of mind. You'll probably hear a lot of back and forth about doing it yourself or finding a cheaper shop. In the end, it's your money and ride, so do what is best for you.

Not sure about that refrigerant line... anyone?

$800 for a motor mount is ridiculous, I would definitely shop around for that one. As far as the tune up, I kind of agree with Chemax, but since I'll be installing my thermal spacers soon, I'm going to just change them myself. But if your car is a DD like mine and you don't have anyone to help you change them, then yeah, take it to the stealership.

I'm comfortable doing my own work...the only way it goes to the dealership is if it is something that I simply cannot do. MOST things that MOST people take their car to the dealership for, are things I would do myself.

RockAuto shows 2 blower motors...the expensive one is $58...there's NO WAY that I would pay the dealership $550. The $800 for the motor mount seems pretty high too...

The blower motor is not that bad to change on your own if you have basic ratchet and socket tools and a few screwdrivers. The motor mount is high but again if you prefer the dealership then go for it. If not you can probably get a lower cost somewhere else. That air conditioning line is leaking refrigerant not antifreeze. That would definitely cause your defroster issues. My brother had a similar issue with a line. Not hard to replace but the line wasn't cheap.

I had my mounts replaced and I recall $800 being about the price the dealer quoted me. I ended up buying the racingline poly inserts and taking my max to a local, reliable shop. Think I paid $400 all-in for the mounts and labor.

Where in Jersey are you, I can definitely do the job for way less than the dealer. PM me and I will give you a price on the tune up and other things you want done.

Don't mind helping people, hate seeing the dealer rape people, especially since I used to work at an infiniti dealer, talk about rapeage. I love working on cars.

I have a hookup on motor mounts for $226 shipped to you, all 4 mounts. I just replaced them on my silver 04, and labor was $175 at my shop in CA.

Shouldn't pay more than that to replace all mounts.
