Default Trunk Lifts

For those who added a 07 08 spoiler on their car that did not have a spoiler. Has anyone upgraded the lifts from the 04-06 without spoiler lifts to the 07 08 lifts for the spoiler. The part on courtesy parts is 84430-A34002. I want to change the lift so it doesn't slam the trunk and makes it easier to open. If anyone can chime in and let me know they work so I can pick up the parts this week.

I upgraded the lifts from a non-spoiler to a spoiler. It didn't make a huge difference but helped a little. Our trunks are notorious for slamming.

When I first got my Maxima, I made the dealer install new shocks (or lifts) on the trunk lid, because of the "Slamming Shut" issue.

It didn't help. Just close the trunk gently.

Never, ever let someone else close the trunk.

I agree. I got into the habit of lowering it slowly and then dropping it from like 8 inches away. No issues.

Same here

And +1 on the idea to never let anyone else close it. It surprised my girlfriend that it dropped so fast and almost closed on her arm... The funny part was I had offered to do it for her and she said she knew better than me

I put dynomat on the trunk lid and it makes my rear view mirror tilt down more than the 13w7 when someone else shuts the trunk and it slams. My teeth rattle if I'm in the car. It is a loud THUD when it is closed too hard.

I let it down to around six inches before i let go. Its not like it is that heavy though. It would be nice if it opened up by its self when you hit the trunk release.

Anyways update on this old thread. I installed auto zone trunk lift. The brand is mighty lift for a 05 maxima. Took about 15min to install these lift and it fixed the problem with the trunk slamming, I can even open the trunk half way without it falling. I recommend this to anyone who has a 07 08 spoiler. For those who have dynomat, might need something a little bit stronger.

Thanks. I really want those struts that lifts the trunk when you use the remote.

The price on these were 17.99 each. The autozones I went to did not have the part so usually takes 2 days to special order them. If they had the 08 spoiler version of these trunk lift I would of order those and that would be enough lift for the people with dynomat in their trunk.

Base off your numbers the 07 trunk lift might not work due to how much they extend. Well only way to find out is have a person with dynomat with 07 08 spoiler install these and see what they think of it on the 6th gen.
