Default Trunk Air Strut Replacement

Hey guys I'm having problems replacing the struts. The issue is that is needs to be compressed for it to fit in the ball joints. Does anyone have any tips or ideas that'll make it work? Thanks

Attach one end, grab the other end and compress it until it's short enough for you to get the other end attached. I know it's a pain in the rear, but that's the only way I know to do it. It's difficult, but it's doable...I've done mine.

Just like 1hawaii50 said, attach one end first then I used the weight of the trunk to compress it. At least I think that's what I did. It has been a while since I replaced mine. I don't know how many times that trunk hit somebody's head because the struts didn't hold up.

Don't brace the unattached end against the trunk lid...it is aluminum, and it won't be pretty.

Its is finally installed, no more falling trunk!!

How I did it:

Went to the local auto store to pick up some car wash supplies and I came across TIE DOWN RATCHET STRAPS and it gave me an idea.
I went and placed the struts in the straps, tightened it, and it worked!! It applied just the right amount of force to decompress it.

Glad to hear you got it worked out!
Fyi - if/when the time comes to do your hood lift supports, those don't need compressing
I just did mine a few wks ago - pretty easy.
