Default Service Question

I brought my 06 in to get the tranny checked . It started to slip and bang into gear . I did not get any SES lights at all . Anyway the mechanic took my car for a drive and two hours later they tell me that all these codes came up and that they want to look into it further . I took the car home and it started running like crap and the SES light came on . The service guy told me that when they retrieve codes that it will also trigger the symtoms . I never heard of this before . I wonder if the mechanic took my car out and beat the hell out until the lights came on . As I said I never had the SES light come on for as long as owned the car and the engine ran great before . Any opinions ?
