Default My 04 Maxima Is Acting Up, Need Some Help

Hey everyone, well my 04' max started having a few issues, when i go to start the car it cranks but it takes about 5-7 seconds for the engine to actually turn over and start. I thought it could be my spark plugs/coil packs because I have over 95,000 miles and they have not been replaced yet. I had my Dad over for the weekend and he helped me look at it and he pointed out that if I gave it some gas while cranking it, it starts right up and that my problem isn't my plugs but its my fuel filter and/or pump. now does that sound right to you guys? is there anything else it could be?

okay not only that but, I'm replacing my plugs/packs anyway and I need to know if there's any specific place that you guys recommend that i order the OEM coil packs from? and i was looking at getting the NGK iridium IX plugs, any specific place for those you recommend? also one last thing, i have the part # of the plugs, but i cant seem to find the part #'s for the coil packs.

Thanks.

First off , how many mileage do you have on your Maxima ?

I wouldnt go changing the Coilpacks just forsake to change them, they normally last pretty long,

I would just change the plugs.

I don't know how much disposable income you have, but I have to agree. I wouldn't replace anything that doesn't need to be. In my experience, coil packs are NOT cheap.

coils last a LONG time and are maaaadd expensive. test out them before you replace them! but it sounds like you have a bad fuel pump. thats not cheap either lol

excatly , Coil packs are not cheap , not NEW ONEs anyways.

if your old school like Don and myself, you were probally use to changing spark plug wires, for SBC and SBF , and even the older Nissan, KAs ,

these Coil Packs or *On* coil packs were to replace the old style spark plugs , they conduct better spark but when you get them wrong, you can get shock and the worse way as Ive seen some people try pulling them out and testing them.

change your spark plugs , and check the fuel filter

Thanks officerfrasher didn't catch that one. and im getting the "VDC off" light, thats about it, my maxima has around 95,500 miles. and i just figured i'd change the packs because i was already under the hood with everything apart so. but ill just change the plugs, and ill check my fuel filter/pump. when i take the intake manifold off to get the the back plugs i have to replace the gasket also, correct?

okay so between me waiting for the dealer to get me parts, me actually doing the plug install and checking everything, my computer breaking down, and me forgetting this thread actually existed. the problem still exists, and now i noticed there is a slight rattle around 2k rpm. I'm thinking either a misfire at lower rpm's, or my timing belt. let me know what you think, I'm taking it in for 100,000 mile maintenance soon just to have them check over everything, but id like to give them a heads up of what to look for so the problem definitely gets fixed.
