Default Life Expectancy Of A 2007 Maxima SE?

I'm about to turn 16 and I'm going to be getting a maxi. I've been looking at a 07 super black maxi with 80k miles and I was wondering if it were safe to buy a car with this amount of miles and I was wondering how long does the maxima last in general. Btw ill only be driving it less then 5k miles a year

Welcome

That's a pretty open ended question depends how you take care of it and how it has been taken care of before you

I know it's open but I just wanted to know how many miles other people have on their cars and a little bit about the reliability of the car

It's a dealer and a one owner car. I took it on a test drive and it was all good.

Very legitimate question from a fifteen year old.

Buying a 2007 super black Maxima with eighty thousand miles is safe if you wear a condom.

Seriously, make sure you have the Machine checked out by an independent mechanic of your choice (not the dealer where you plan to buy)
The 2007 Maxima is now five years old with an average of sixteen thousand miles a year. That is nothing to worry about if it has been properly maintained. An additional five thousand miles a year is negligible if you keep up with the maintenance and don't drive abusively.

Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the forum.

Is 80 thousand miles too many miles to start modding on?

Which is it? Either one can be modded. Mileage has very little to do with modding. Money is the main equation.

I am assuming since you are only fifteen your parents will be purchasing the Maxima for you. Your excitement is understandable but you are getting ahead of yourself. Wait until you actually have the Maxima in your possession. Make sure you are happy with it. Finish school, get a job, open a bank account, save some money, and after you have accumulated some savings, then you can think about Mods.

Let us know what you decide on and be sure to post photos.

I was thinking about the one with 66k but its too much money for me. That's why I switched back to the 80k one

The 6th gen Maxima in general require more maintenance than other Japanese cars.Even though technically the 6th gen isn't Japanese. Search the forum, there's a lot of info of stuff that needs to be replaced to fixed at or around 80k miles. Dish out the extra bread and get the lower mileage one.

Thanks ill look around for that kind of stuff. Or I'll try convincing my parents to throw in a lil more cash because right now were r splitting the cost 50/50

I cant find anything that people are talking about that it needs to be fixed at 80k...

Id go with the 80k car as for modding the vehicle wait up a bit your going to be 16 and probably having the vehicle modified and in the possesion of a minor would cause alot of pain in the ass with local police.sheriff.highway patrol. My advice to you is keep it stock and low profile maximas are real nice cars(stock) and fast as well but at your age modifying a vehicle and getting all that attention might not be the best idea

At 80k miles, you are approaching possible issues with timing chain guides. Those typically need replaced in the 100k mile range. The CVT trans should be fine as long as it was maintained. I'd make sure that the dealer has done a CVT flush and all regular maintenance BEFORE I buy it. You are also looking at shocks/struts/end links if they are still on the original pieces.

Timing chain guide replacement can run upwards of $2500 or so depending on where you have it done.
