Default HID Fog Light 3k or 6k

I think I saw a thread on this before but can't find it. More specifically what I am thinking is being that I live in Colorado and do come across actual fog sometimes I was thinking of going 3k hids for fogs, but kind of want to do 8k to match the headlights? If I do 8k to match, then I'm contemplating of just adding some cheap small yellow fog lights hidden inside the bumper for the once in a while foggy conditions?

Any thoughts? (if it matters I will be rewiring the fogs so I can turn them on when ever regardless if the headlights or even the park lights are on, and probably will run them more like a DRL)

Bottom line is this:

Functionality: 3000K 100%

Looks: 6000 or 8000K

I personally have all 6000K in all my front lights, but that's only because we don't get much fog in So Cal. If your area does get fog a lot, go with 3000K. Safety and visibility is more important than the look of 6000K or 8000K imo.

As always, well said!

I have 5600 in my fogs, but they really don't do anything with the little bit of fog that we occasionally get.

Gotta follow trend, well said.

I'm all 6000K up front, but we don't deal with heavy fog down here.

i see you got the 04-06 headlights.

im not going to lie to broseph but having the fogs right next to our main lights does kill the look of 3k. i hav the same headlights as you. my setup is 6k headlights and the 3k fogs and i hate the look but functionality wise I LOVE IT. even in the rain its awesome.

but just putting my .02 cents in on the looks and functionality perspective.

Sweet, thanks for all the feedback and for those that put up pics. I am leaning towards the 3k fogs with 8k mains, as we don't get much fog but when we do there is a pass that i drive everyday and it is pretty thick. Wife doesn't want yellow at all? Any one running 6 or 8k mains and 3k fogs with a pic at night to show her it doesn't look that bad... and actually I kind of like it. Course 6 or 8 for both look really sharp too.

As someone mentioned I do have the 04-05 houseing and it really is kind of stupid that the fogs are right next to the mains, but oh well maybe a future 07-08 front end swap with bumper, grill and houseings. Just barily bought the car and got to pay it down some before I start doing to much.

To Deadbolt and Chemax - Have you guys put HIDs in the running/turn signal light? Or am I seeing your pics wrong? I was going to just change the amber bulb out for a white 2watt projector LED. Would like to go a Blue LED with the 8k headlights and the car being blue, and the fact that I am going to install some Blue accent/mood lighting on the inside, but blue running lights might just attract some unwanted atention.... had a truck all done up and I'm done playing that game, I just try to have fun but keep it legal

I checked out your domain page and that is one sweet ride!!
I was just thinking about doing the Blue LEDs on the floor after going all white and I like the clear lenses on the door.... much better then the red with just a little clear. I expecially like your system setup very jealous of that.... in time. Just showed the pics to my wife she understands the functionality but just doesn't like the look so if I ever do get an 07-08 bumper then I would run 8k for sure down there and put 3ks in the stock 05 houseings. So for now not really sure. Yes it is my car and she doesn't care but I love having a wife that is into cars even just a little and I think she is into them a lot more then most girls so I like her input also. I think I'm going to talk to the guy that I deal with and see if I can swap out for 3k's before I open the box.

Thanks for the pic, no disrespect to the car and owner on the right but I really like the other two cars. I got to look into these switchback leds, they look awesome and not to mention still amber when you turn what more could you ask for. Looks style and functionality to help keep 5-0 off your back.

Oh heck maybe I'll just have both bulbs. HAHA It'd be cool to be able to have them both wired up and just flip some kind of toggle switch between the two, so I could run 8ks and if/when I hit fog switch over "on the fly" best of both worlds right

Hey, the PoPo needs to keep busy too!

I have the OEM headlights..I think they are 4300K, I have the 6000K switchbacks from Vleds, and I have 5600K fogs. My car is confused! I want to go ALL 6000K, but KC is killing me with the Wilwood group buy right now!

I have the OEM headlights..I think they are 4300K, I have the 6000K switchbacks from Vleds, and I have 5600K fogs. My car is confused! I want to go ALL 6000K, but KC is killing me with the Wilwood group buy right now!
I always thought you were all 6000K; you were my inspiration.

Sorry! My headlights are OEM...I think 4300K...I want to go to 6K, just haven't had the money yet. The fogs I had purchased for my wife's Altima...I got 5600K...she didn't want them, so when I realized they would fit the Maxima, I kept them. Eventually everything will be 6K...just waiting for the priorities to shift!
