Default Crushed Front End = Modifications!

So today was my lucky/unfortunate day...

Click the image to open in full size.
Click the image to open in full size.

Someone backed into my 04 Max with a Silverado with a huge hitch on the back of it. The radiator and condenser are shot as well as the bumper, grill and hood! You know what that means... UPGRADES!!!

So, I need some thoughts on what to do here. The car is sitting in the shop waiting for an adjuster and all that jazz. I think I will let the shop go ahead and replace the radiator and condenser and get it back running, but then after that I want to do an 07-08 front end conversion.

What is the cheapest way to perform an 07-08 conversion? I can get the hood/bumper from the junk yard and buy a custom grill online pretty cheap. What about the headlights? I have 04 OEM HID headlights on her now so...

If I bought 07-08 headlamp assemblys as halogens, would my 04 HID ballasts and lamp fit properly? Someone help me out here... I really want to make the most of this situation (since it wasn't my fault anyway). THANKS!

Sorry to hear but look on the bright side, you are ok and now you can upgrade. As far as a cheap way to upgrade, there isn't one.

You will need Hood, Grill, Bumper, Headlights, Fog lights and then swap couple of wires or the 07-08 heads wont work properly. Grill, I can sell you an 07-08 grill for about 75 shipped. Hood I bought from dealer new because I could not find one locally, you might find one, never know. I had a hard time though. At the dealer I paid over 500 for the hood. Front fascia or bumper 75 used up to 140. I bought it new for 110 from Keystone automotive, a local parts store that my body shop gets parts from. Fogs are about 125 to 200 on ebay. Heads are 500 to 600 for HID and around 300 for Halogen.

If Im not mistaken, you can put HIDs in Halogen heads but the light pattern wont look as good. Not sure on that one. I bought Xenon Heads for mine and I paid 550. Shop around bro and good luck.

If you decide to do the complete conversion, I believe the 07-08 headlights are a completely different shape, so you would need to completely replace the headlights.
You need the hood, bumper, grille, and headlights to complete the front. But, a more cost effective solution is the bumper Apollos linked you to, it's a hybrid 07-08 bumper that fits directly onto your 04-06 headlights and grille.
Good luck!

id do the whole 07-08 conversion. at the end of the day that hybrid bumper is fiberglass. if you bump it you'll be fixing cracks. i cracked my gtr bump in 2 days of driving it. im not trying to throw salt but the oem bumper are wayyy more forgiving.

that bumper would be your cheapest bet and may even put some money in your pocket if you play it right

That's $$$ to do the whole conversion and he isn't dropped. Looks like stock height, he shouldn't have any clearance issues unless he is pulling a Dukes of Hazards or something.

I will eventually do the Hybrid, but I wouldn't do the lip, it would be to low for me.

Maybe Craig (MaxxPower) can chime in here, but I thought the 07-08 headlights used the same projector housing...just either a halogen, or HID bulb...

They used different projectors, the hid projector has a metal surrounding and can be taken off without opening up the headlight. The halogen has a plastic surrounding and to remove it you need to open up the headlight

Just get a hybrid bumper and call it a day ! The new bumper with the 04-06 grill and lights look better than a 6.5gen I'm on progress without the lip. Just like the other bumper, no problems. Oh and it wont look like an Altima either.

True, a lot of times it's all about the money $$$. Same reason some people buy the Ebay exhaust vs the Nismo. You gotta weigh your options and do what you like and can afford. Either way you go, you should end up with a cool front end

Wait wait wait... So the 07-08 halogen headlamp assembly uses a plastic surrounding that requires disassembly of the headlamp assembly altogether WHEREAS the 07-08 HID headlamp assembly has a metal surrounding that does NOT require disassembly of the headlamp, correct?

I have seen that the 04-06 halogen headlamp assembly can be modified to accept the HID projectors from the 04-06 HID headlamp assembly. Would the same not prove true for the 07-08 headlamp assembly?

I have looked on the forum search to try and locate a discussion regarding this with no luck. Perhaps this has been discussed previously, anyone physically tried this before?

So I just got my quote back from the shop, not the insurance company though so they may try to lowball me, but the shop says its about $4,100 worth of damage. They even included a headlight in the repair estimate! If the shop will agree, I'll just have them put on all new 07-08 model parts and be done with it! Wish me luck fellas
