Default Burning Engine Oil Or Is It Normal?

whats up my6thgen. so today i randomly check the engine oil and notice that she burnt some engine oil. i seem like its about .25qt less. I have been going hard on her since i installed the HFPC and the Y-pipe and racing couple times. Do you think its normal for a car to burn some oil? It never happened before tho. Its a 07 with 53k miles on it.

Thanks,
Deep

How many miles ago was the last oil change? Some oil is consumed always but at higher loads the consumption rate increases. Probably normal after dogging it.

Some oil consumption is considered normal. However, with 55k on the clock combined with the fact you're beating on it.... I mean spirited driving..lol.chances are your PCV is sticking...and you are sucking oil back in through the intake. Replace the PCV.55k you are well do, IMO. Especially when spirited driving is concerned, that little thing has to be in tip top shape to stand up to all the vacuum under WOT.

Unfortunately unless you have a 5 year old with godzilla grab power fingers, its easier to remove the windshield cowl in order to replace that little guy. They are cheap btw. I would recommend OEM

See the small black hose that connects to the UIM at the back (on passenger side), well if you disconnect that hose, the PCV is there connected to the rear valve cover. Like Danski said, you can remove cowl to get to it easier....or just take off the UIM.
You could try installing an oil catch can to help monitor your oil consumption...not necessary, but .....

The VQs are notorious for oil consumption. Really keep an eye on that tho' chief. I learnt the hard way....one reason I don't have the max anymore. Good luck!

As Conblac posted its attached to bank1 valve cover. Its attached to the hose below and threaded into the valve cover.

Compression test as well as a leak down test will tell you the condition of your rings.

most of the time is the O-ring behind the oil cooler, it will not leak standing still , only while your driving.

most of the Maxima Ive worked on has this issue, You will NOT see any drips in the driveway, which leads to everyone and the myth that VQ burns oil.

Change the O-ring and you should see improvements

Not sure what you mean you have a leak and can't find it?
clean the surrounding area with a can or 2 of brake clean, go for a drive and inspect that area.
If that doesn't work then you can always buy one of those "dye" kits with UV light and glasses. You will find the leak even if its tiny.
