Default Battery Question

On my 05, the oem nissan branded battery lasted 4 years.

Now on my 07, it has a autocraft (advance auto parts) battery, which has one of those stickers on it with the date of when it was put on the shelf, which is 4/2008. That battery is on the verge of dying, it struggles to turn over. I didnt get a chance to get the battery tested, but my car is an 07, and the oem battery was replaced by an aftermarket battery 1 year later....now fast forward a year and a half, the battery is dead (almost) again.

Is there something wrong with my car? Alternator perhaps?

Do you leave your car parked for a few days without starting it? Do you have any aftermarket gear (alarms, flashing LEDs) that could be causing parasitic draw?

Throw a voltmeter on the battery terminals with the car running, you should have a minimum of 14volts.

oh shit, whats up Rishi, didnt know you were on here!

Nope, bone stock. Daily driver, 40 miles a day.

I found it strange that the oem battery was replaced 1 year later, which would've still been under warranty.

On my 05, the oem battery handled my alarm, hids, police strobes, stereo, and occasionaly I've had the car on ACC, with the seat warmers on, the music on, and the headlights on, and it lasted 4 years.

This is an Autocraft silver or platinum series battery? I believe the Plats carry a 3 year warranty on them, the Silvers are 1 year. In any case, Autocraft batteries are not highly regarded as quality batteries, they have a rep for dying out quickly. Make sure your alt is in good shape and replace with a NAPA or Interstate series battery.

if the OEM lasted for 4 years than the aftermarket lasted only for a year.......shouldnt that mean its the battery? lol

get the battery tested and test the alternator too.

like packetattackt said autocraft batterys are not good, i work for advance auto parts and i see a lot of batterys go bad in less than a year, the gold ones have a 3 year free replacement and the silvers have a 2 year warranty
