Default AC / Heating Issue

Hey all,

Just ran into an issue with the Max on this past Saturday night, picking up the Mrs.' mother in BK. When we were parked i heard this loud squeal and then the RPMs dropped. I turned the radio off and a few seconds letter it did it again this time the car shuddered. I disengaged the clutch and then turned off the heat. Well I tried again after parking the car at our destination and it repeated it self with the RPMs dropping and then shuddering. The third time it got really low on the RPMs and shuddered almost choking. The fourth time the car actually shut off on me, but restarted with no problem. Every time the RPMs drop you hear a harsh rubber squeal. The next morning I cleaned the battery terminals, left the car running and disconnected the negative terminal to test the alternator. Luckily the car kept running, thus bringing to the conclusion that it is not the alternator.

I do not believe it to be the battery as the alarm works easily and I have no problems physically starting the car. My best uneducated guess was that the compressor is going bad. I took it to a mechanic who stated that my guess was correct. My warranty expired on me so I just renewed so unfortunately don't have the money to take to the 'stealership' for a full eval. What do you all think is possibly the issue.

Please help its too cold outside to not have heat in the car and I'm on the verge of buying the compressor tomorrow so it will be here for Friday.

Your AC compressor has nothing to do with your heating issue.
Before you do anything, make sure that your coolant level is up to par and the system is bled properly.

Coolant was filled yesterday, had the low pressure A/C hosed replaced back in July as well. Not sure if the system is properly bled.
