Have you ever been to the track? People live for the track. Its a hobby and a life style. Im sure that thing was gutted and built.

I have a kid who I see almost everytime I go to the track. Chevy Cavalier = 9 and 10 second runs all day.

OP, if you're planning on tracking your car a few times a year, i would look look into drag radials or slicks.. they're well worth it

go for some lightweight 16" wheels and drag radials and your time's will improve a lot.. also empty out the trunk (spare, carpet, ect), take out back seats if it's leather.. our cars weigh a lot so every weight reduction helps

thanks bro, i'll give it a shot when i go next time. I did had my left foot on the break but kept the rpms low. i'll try keeping it up to 3500 next time and see how that goes...

thanks for the tip man. i know some of the guys one here are really serious about taking their cars on the track, but i'm doing it just to see what it can do. i'm definitely gonna do some weight reduction and see how i can get the times down.

i wish i had a 5spd. i can tell once it hits 4th gear it's just dying to jump in a higher gear!!

Yea its all for fun man... as long as your having a good time.

You wont be able to hold ur rpms high if your tires are really bad. Remember pressing the pedal to the floor fast but steady, not too fast is the key too.

Like tookrzy said, weight reduction goes a long way with the maxima. Floor mats, trunk mat, glove box, light wheels, 1/4 tank of gas, ect.

Go through the gears....there should be no reason why your hitting 4th gear at the track you should be good to go going from 1st to 3rd that will help your time out alot better also...ride those gears out
