I use the first pic. I used to use the 2nd pic but it kept leaving a film of grime and shit all over my tire. Didn't like it =\. Loved the way it looked after I applied it though.

I've used pretty much everything you can get at Walmart, AutoZone, Pepboys and even on some boutique detailer supply sites.

I've settled on Aqua Gloss. It's a water based dressing that has the following redeeming qualities:

1. It can be applied to a WET tire.
2. It lasts a really long time, even after 3 weeks my tires are still looking black and the gloss fades to satin.
3. It can be diluted with water if you want to spray tires using a garden pump sprayer type setup.
4. It contains no flammable solvents so it won't brown tires over time (rubber blooming).
5. Since it has no flammable solvents it can be used to dress hoses and other rubber pieces in the engine bay.
6. It retails for $20.95 a GALLON which lasts a long time.
7. The gloss can be adjusted, spray directly on tire for super high gloss or apply with a sponge tire applicator for a medium - satin gloss.

You can spray this product on, use a paintbrush or a foam tire applicator.

Before applying any tire shine product, for maximum longevity, I recommend you strip the tires. I find that WESTLEYS BLECHE-WHITE and GRIOT GARAGE RUBBER CLEANER are two of the best.
