Default Winter Wheels

So... last week I picked up a set of 18" Maxima rims (off of an '04) from a guy on CL for cheap. They had some pretty nasty curb rash but I didn't really care - because they're to be used as winter rims. I decided to paint them to cover up the rash a bit (and also try to hide all the winter dirt) and they came out pretty well I think. They'll get lightly sanded, sprayed again and then I'll hit them with some clear coat.

This was the rim that was in the best shape:

I have a set of Michelin X-Ice Xi2's on order, and they should be here before the end of the week.

Yupp, spray painted it with the Dupli-Color wheel paint (in graphite), but it has a pretty flat, non-glossy finish to it. So, I'll hit it with a couple coats of clear which has a glossy finish to it.

You can pop the nissan emblems off and paint the center caps too.

Here's a set I did in CF wrap.

Yeah, that's what I did. Taped off the Nissan logo and painted them to match the rims.

Definitely, if you go in a random order than your just messing up your rims. If your seriously thinking about painting them than either use some scotch pads to scuff them up or 400 grit sandpaper. Wash them off thoroughly......

Then follow up with primer, paint, and then clear. Hope that helps

That paint looks real good man, I like it a lot. Might think about a gunmetal color like that for mine.

SIDENOTE: I would reccommend this clear to anyone painting wheels/engine covers/brakes etc...

It's what I've used on almost everything Ive painted. It sprays perfectly and dries hard as a rock.

Be sure to set all paint in a sink filled with hot water for at least 5-10 minutes before painting. It really makes a BIG difference in spray patterns.

yes, I repainted my engine. again.
