Hey guys,

Ok let me answer acouple of questions:

The reason I went with the 08 steering wheel is because I wanted to have the leds light up in the steering wheel. Also the newer 08 steering wheel is a better grey and has brushed aluminum instead of the dull 04 silver. The buttons are also different. Hope that answers your question.

You honestly just need a steering wheel wrench set which you can get a pepboys for like $20. You can just return it when your done. It's really easy.

all you do is disconnect your battery. Then it's two 10mm sockets I believe. The airbag has these weird connectors that can easily be taken off with a flathead. Then it's soooo easy and no need to worry about an airbag going off if you plug in everything and have the battery disconnected.

not alot at all. I think the steering wheel was like $100 w.o. the airbag. Just gotta shop around. The tools you can just return after using.

I'm in the process of doing this myself, my hold up is finding a clock spring that is reasonably priced... the factory harness is not wired for the led lighting or the heated steering wheel (my car didn't have it) so it needs a clock spring from a 2006-2008 that does have the heated function in order to do all of this. Does anyone know how to add additional wires to the clock spring without messing anything up? I know it's a ribbon cable inside of it but didn't know if it has extra leads from the factory that could be tapped into and used.

There is no way to add wires that I know of or would even attempt. To answer your other question, there is no extra leads. You need to get an 6.5 gen clock spring.

Can anyone with a 6.5 GEN provide me with their VIN number to give to the dealership to get a clock spring? Every dealership I've called said they need the VIN number in order to give me the proper part.... (I need it to be one with a heated steering wheel)

Here are the possible part numbers that they have given me...

25560ZK01A
25560ZK01C
25560ZK01B
25560ZK01D

Those part numbers are different due to the fact that Bose has steering wheel controls and non Bose have different options. Make sure you give them a vin from a fully equipped Max with radio controls and heated steering wheel.

ok, my car is non-bose, but the steering wheel has the phone button on it where my old wheel didn't. Can anyone with a non-bose 6.5 car with a heated steering wheel and radio controls able to quickly run outside and get me their vin number for the part? I need to get this car back together.

ok, after looking up the part numbers that was given to me by the dealership, I think it is 25560-ZK01D... but my question is, I do have traction control, is that the same as stability control? If so, then I need to get 25560- ZK01C.

I would really like to get this order in today, so any help is appreciated.

Anyone by any chance know which pin-outs are the illumination? I got the 6.5 gen clock spring installed, I saw 2 empty pins so I put what I thought was the ILL wires to them, nothing... Anyone with multimeter and 20 minutes could do this :-)

Did you ever get your steering wheel controls to light up? I have an 04 6 speed manual and I just ordered the illuminated steering wheel controls and installed them. Of course the controls don't light up. Everything works but that. I don't have phone or heated steering wheel.
