Default Aftermarket Alarm Systems Requirement

In order for us 6.5 Gens to get an aftermarket alarm system, you must get a "Idatalink ads-al-ca module." If you're getting your alarm installed make sure to tell the installer about that.
With this module, you will NOT have to lose any key fobs which is a plus since you don't have to leave a key in the car.

Hope this helps anyone that's going to be getting an aftermarket alarm system installed.

this does mean though you will still have to keep the original key fob on your set of keys in order to start the car correct? Essentially, you will have the key fob and the alarm system remote correct?

^^ yes.. of course... you will have you key fob on your keys as usual & also you will have the aftermarket alarm remote.

When you want to unlock your car doors, you use the aftermarket remote ONLY to unlock the doors. This will also disable the factory alarm. You CANNOT unlock the doors using the little push button on the doors because the aftermarket alarm will go off. The buttons will still work but if you use it your aftermarket alarm will go off.

You'll get used to using a aftermarket remote to open the doors .. I use to love the push button but now I'm so used to opening the doors with my aftermarket remote.. I have my doors open before I get to the car so this way I can just hop in and bounce instead of walking up to the door, standing there and pressing the button and then waiting for it to unlock n then bouncin!

Hope this helps every one...
