doesn't quite fit. I went ahead and bought it because I wanted to use the frame for a project, and because nobody else seemed willing to be the guinea pig. It seems as if the grille would fit if the bumper wasn't mounted on the car, but the grille just seems a little too big. I had a hard time closing the hood, and when I did the grille was being pushed down. The top corners don't match the curvature of the hood, and the top bar sticks out past the hood. I tried everything I could to make it fit, but it just wouldn't budge. I might try removing the mesh to see if it's keeping the grille from forming correctly, but it seems like some major re-work needs to be done. I also double checked my bumper fitment, but nothing looked out of place. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The design is great, too bad the fitment blows

Yup, the grille itself looks great compared to the old one, but it just needs a few tweaks to be great.
1. Remove a few mm from the center of the grille so it'll sit inside the grille opening. 2. Round off the top corners to match the hood. 3. Make sure the top bar is flat so there isn't a gap between the hood and grille (this MIGHT be fixable by adjusting where the mesh mounts at the top so it holds the top bar up) 4. Make the grille mount on top a little higher so it can sit flat like it should. |

I sent them an email notifying them of the issues and referred them to the same thread on maxima.org because C-mod actually posts over there. I'm not certain they designed/tried the grille on a Maxima since they only had pictures of it on an unmounted bumper.

I highly doubt mine is a defect. The grilles are made from the same mold and should be no different. C-mod did reply to my email asking me to try again and take more pictures.

Sorry about that. I hope he sends you a new cmod grill.
But it sure looks GREAT, if fitment was perfect like the ones for the 6thgens.

Looked good from the front view, but definitely sad to see the flaws from the top and edges with the hood closing.
Hopefully they can resolve the issues. |

Can't see the pix because I'm at work, but that sucks that it doesn't fit. I was definitely going to buy one, if they fix the issue I still might.

I doubt it looks like this one. It might look similar to and better than their old design (like the carbon fiber one), but this grille has a different design than any other available grille. It appears to be modeled after the frame of the 6.5 gen OEM grille. |

Just saw this on the other org too. Major R&D miss on their part, not sure how they managed that but anyway, they gonna have to fix it.
"Try again and take pics" I 'm sure you sent them what we are all looking at and your diagnosis seems spot on.

Got mine today...yes it doesn't fit but it's not a lost cause. For my fitment the only thing I need to do is grind down the corners where the hood meets the grille, which I'm in the process of doing. I say MY fitment because I plan on not having a perfectly flush look to it, reason being is I like how it goes well with the headlights having that ~"1 ledge where they meet the bumper. Big question is would I buy it again with it's current design flaws, no way, not for the price. If it were an $80 ebay grille it'd be a different story, I just happen to be on leave and need to keep busy from going crazy, so I don't mind the work. I'll still be contacting c-mods.
