Default Light In The Front Of Dome Lights

Ok, I have a Maxima 04 SL and have been looking for answers but no luck yet, last weekend I was modding the dome lights wiring since my on-off button is broken, and found that there is a bulb with a base connected in the middle, is a 168 bulb or T10, was checking and there is no way that bulb could light anything, but, does anyone know why is it there?

in resume, two DExxxx bulbs and one T10, the T10, is for...?

The is a small slot that lights up when the headlights are on. If they are off its off. I think that's what your talking about.

Ooook, I'll check again, when I did the mod to the wiring it was in broad daylight, so no chance to check it, Thank you so much.

Mine too... that "MAP LIGHT" is not turning on even though I turn on the headlights. But the middle button from the Sunroof/Maplight/Dome light assembly is broken. I found a link on sparky's website on how to solve that issue. Just do some wire splicing.... but still the "map light" is not turning on....

If I turn the button to not no lights with doors open then it never comes on, so if the switch is messed up that could be part but other wise it should work.

Yeap, I guess it's the same I did with mine, actually I want to put a switch like I saw on a video, since my newborn keeps waking up when I open the door and the lights turn on.

I know this is an old post, but that light the OP is talking about is the 'mood' light. It shines down through a little slit in the overhead light console to light up the cup holder area. It's way too dim though, and can be replaced with a brighter LED bulb. It's a 'wedge' style bulb. My original had Toshiba 658 stamped on it. Looks like a 194 bulb is a replacement. This light, by the way, comes on when the headlights are on.
