Default How to Replace Vanity Lights + Rear Dome Lights

I have an 07 SE with power moonroof, and I pulled my vanity lights, and my front and rear dome lights to check the bulb sizes so I can start my LED conversion. I thought I'd take some pics while I was at it.

To remove the vanity lights:
Pry here gently with a small screwdriver and the center of the light cover will bow out

Click the image to open in full size.

Insert a pry tool or screwdriver under the light cover where it is bowing out, and pop the cover off

Click the image to open in full size.

Now you can just pop the bulb out

Click the image to open in full size.

For the rear dome lights, this is what mine looks like:
Click the image to open in full size.

You can see from the outside of the light cover where the tabs are:

Click the image to open in full size.

I inserted my pry tool near the tabs and pried out and away from the housing

Click the image to open in full size.

Then the cover just pops off.
To remove the black metal plate, just gently pry near either of the two tabs, there are two on either side. I forgot to circle them, but you can see them in the pic

Click the image to open in full size.

You are then left with this:
Click the image to open in full size.

Here is a pic of the rear dome light, and the vanity light side by side
Click the image to open in full size.

Re-installation is obiously the reversal of the removal.

I knew somebody was going to ask, because I didn't list them

For the visor/vanity bulbs, I used these:

http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm

About halfway down the page, the 31mm x 5mm Vanity mini 3 led SMT festoon bulb. I used white for mine. Be forewarned, these are SUPER bright.

Im assuming you left the black plate out of the rear domes?

I just got my bulbs from Max Power the other day. It looks great without the plate installed.

Make sure to get the right bulbs...

The "vanity" lights are in the "vanity" mirrors, not the domes.

You guys need to contact Max Power...

His bulbs are cheaper than Autolumination, and have a lifetime warranty.

I just picked up bulbs for two of my vehicles; excellent service and product.
