Default How to Remove and Paint Badges

Wuts good guys. the only reason i am putting this up is because it is so easy anyone can do it

step 1: use fishing line to run behind the badges . this is the easiest way to remove the badges without scratching the car. The middle hamburger emblem has 2 pieces that protrude off the emblem and through 2 holes in the car itself as seen below..

step 2: once the badges are all removed individually using the fishing line there will be 3m tape/glue left on the car. i just used my hand to roll the 3m tape off my car as well as the reverse side of the badges...

step 3: sand down the badges so they are not shiny anymore. this allows the paint to stick better and cleaner to the badges. wash with soap and water to remove any leftover residue.

step 4: using a few coats of black to be safe and a few coats of clear on top to be even more safe. Just spray paint the badges leaving 30 minutes or so in between coats to allow the previous coat of paint to dry.

step 5: using either 3m tape or glue just simply place the emblems back on your car and press them firmly against the car for a few seconds to help them stay!!

this is a final pic. the car is absolutely filthy at the moment but you get my drift. once it is clean i will take and post more pics.. GOOD LUCK!!

Good write up man and for anybody that's thinking of de-badging your ride. Once you get the emblems off and got rid of most of the gunk that's left behind. Use some goo gone to remove the rest and be sure to wash it off right after. You definitely don't want that stuff sitting there, it'll dull your paint. Then, use a buffer and polish and wax the areas where the emblems used to be.

An alternative for the fishing wire can be the tool that's included with the goo gone or what I did was use a plastic knife from McDonald's.

Definitely go with the 3M tape. It's only 5 bucks or something and can be used for other mods. Ex. LED strips for the foot wells.
