Default How to Remove Front Dome Lights

So, there is a write up for the 04-06's, i might as well make one for us 6.5 gens!

Tools Needed:- SMALL flat head screwdriver.
- LEDs or new bulbs.
- Patience/care

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 1!
Take the small flathead screwdriver and place it inbetween the lense and the roof console like shown:

Click the image to open in full size.

Push it in and seperate the lense from the roof console and pry up towards the back roof so that the lense pops down towards you.

Step 2!
Repeat step one but on the other side of the lense next to where you just pulled down. Be very careful. Usually you will snap one of the tabs or a piece of the roof console. That's ok though, the lense will go back in normally.

Step 3!
Once you have the back side of the lense down, finagle the 2 front clips out of their holes. That will expose your bulb or current LED setup.

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 4!
Replace with new LEDs or a new bulb.

Click the image to open in full size.

**Test the LEDs before final mounting so you can get it in there and not have to mess with it again**

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 5!
Once you have your new lights in, you can now reassemble! Place the 2 back clips that your pried off first, back in first. Once you get the 2 back clips in, you can put a little bit of pressure on the 2 front clips, pushing back towards the back clips and push the lense all the way up and the 2 front clips will then pop into place. Then test to see if all is working!

Click the image to open in full size.

Step 6!
Repeat steps 1-5 for the second lense!

Click the image to open in full size.

Then test them both!

Click the image to open in full size.

Congratulations, you have just completed a new lighting setup on your 6.5 gen front dome lights! If you have ANY questions, please, feel free to PM me. I will do my best to answer any question you may have!

---Always remember, be careful!!!!---

^^ my first set are from Jsmith, and they are REALLY BRIGHT! they don't give off too much light and fit perfect in the small housing. My new set are from Max Power and are blindingly bright. Lol. They make it daytime in my car at night. I love how bright they are. Both are great choices!!

My God I wish I had found this site prior to some of my installs. This is a great tutorial on how to install these. I may switch mine out that I have now for these as I like a brighter look then what I have.

I just tried to do this install with a led set i got. I'm having trouble getting the factory bulb out. It might be that my fingers are just too fat. Did you do anything special to get the factory bulbs out?

not really... sometimes they can be in there pretty good though. what i suggest is wear a rubber glove and try to wiggle the bullb out. if you STILL cant get the bulb out, get some pliers and wrap the bulb in the rubber glove and GENTLY hold the bulb with the pliers and wiggle them out.

re: tight bulbs. YES! i had the same problem after getting my led's from maxpower. i had to take curved needle nose pliers with a piece of rubber (those things you put over jar lids to open them) and wiggle the thing out. it was in waaay too tight. BUT...i ended up putting too much stress on the socket part, which i think has two wired legs that connect to the circuit board...and i think i broke one off because now the light only works intermittently. which means i need to take the whole damn thing out and send it to 1hawaii50 for a repair. i havent tackled the second dome light nor the rear seat light yet because of this. so when you pull the light out be very careful not to put too much stress on the socket connection in the circuit board.

Hey guys I dont mean to revive an old chat but I ordered a 9 pc LED set from amazon and everything fit except for my map lights. I have an 08 SE. They dont even seem to use the same connector even though they were supposedly "plug and play". All the other ones fit except these. Help?
