Default How I Modified My Headlights With Video

Wassup maxima enthusiast. I almost never come on here but decided to make a thread and show you all how I modified my headlights by showing you all some videos. It's very simple and easy to follow so I hope it helps

I mentioned in the 1 of 3 you set the oven to 215 degress F for 15mins to open it. If you find that it's really hard to open put it back in for a little while longer

Thanks for the great video. Any comments on wiring the halos, good places to run wire thru the housing, using grommets to seal them?
How did you power them (which circuit)? Are they always on for you?

would you consider going any bigger than 70mm? Is there room to do it?

Because I modified my foglights to HID I had to drill a hole to run the wires through the foglight cover. After I ran the HID wires and CCFL halo rings wires I sealed it up with silicone. As for power I ran it off of my HID bumper lights which is wired to ignition controlled by an on/off switch, so during the night I can switch it off when in traffic.

I'm sure a 72mm might fit because there was room, that will be your decision to make.

The lens is clear, what you see is a CCFL halo ring that makes it illuminate. The turn signal bulb is a switchback LED bulb that I picked up off of Ebay, youtube switchback LED bulb and you'll see exactly what it is. If you decide to get one you'll have to buy two resistors to stop your hyper flash. You asking about the turn signals are you referring to the headlight turn signal or the bumper turn signal?

Appreciate it man. Yeah man I welcome the haters because they push me to my limits. Wait till you see what I have next, working on it as we speak. Yeah man, but don't the 350Z have aftermarket headlights with LED's? or you just want to make your own thing?

The videos are detailed so I don't think you should have too much to worry about. Remove your ballast, bulb and secure your wires from touching the heated coils. At 215 degrees F you won't burn anything unless it makes contact with either the walls of the oven or the heated coils. If you're scared keep a close eye on it and open the oven every few mins to make sure nothing is melting of burning. As far as the paint is concerned preparation is key. You'll hear a lot of guys saying the heat will cause the paint inside to flake, not true. Your headlight needs to be fully prepped before applying the paint. I would recommend a flat or matte black because it goes on very good with minimum running. This might sound like a dumb idea but try this. After you open your headlights, use some wax and grease remover and clean the chrome out properly and allow it to dry. Use a lint free rag or cloth and wipe it, try the Night shades and give it about 4 coats and see if you like the outcome. The night shades should work really well. If you don't like it then you can sand it down with a 600 grit then a 800 grit, prime it then use the flat or matte spray can. PM if you need any help and i'll try to walk you through. Good luck bruh

Glad I can help bro. The max is good though and I'm sitting waiting patiently for the weather to warm up. I'm currently working on a transformation but I can't get to the big major till it warms up. Find me on youtube and subcribe man you won't wanna miss this. It might not be the best 6thgen out there, but it will be one of the most unique 6thgen out there. I'll check you out man
