Default $39 Ebay CAI Installed

I bought this Intake for $39 shipped off Ebay. Works Just fine. I just wish I'd known the MAF had to be on a certain way or the car wouldn't start.

1. Remove factory intake, including upper and lower brackets.
***Note Location of MAF

2. Unbolt MAF housing and install onto supplied adaptor.

3. Install rubber connector to Throttle Body

4. Install Short Tube with short end toward throttle body

5. Attach Air Cleaner to flared end of long tube using large rubber coupling. (I didn't want to remove the bumper so I jacked up the front and fished the ling tube through the bottom)

6. Install MAF tube and adaptor between intake tubes making sure to position MAF in same location.

7. Bolt long tube bracket to fender leaving it loose.

8. Get everything into position and tighten it all down.

9. Have fun

I should have watched the video of those two chicks installing one first. They covered it in plastic for installation to keep from scratching it. Oh well, I is pretty excited about my first mod.

Now I have to go clean my MAF which will hopefully resolve my newly developed idle and stalling issue.

I got a question with the CAI. Since the filter sits on the bottom, cant water get into the filter from it sitting on the bottom when you wash your car or when it rains and your driving it. Please explain

Well it's hard to explain but with the CVT you can get the car to keep a certain tone. With an intake there is a whistle. If you watch the clip in this thread you will hear the whistle. it is loud and fast because he is giving it the beans.
at a normal take off you can find that whistle RPM point and hold it

from what i know you have to submerge the entire filter in water.
washing it is not a problem with a CAI. the car is not on.

If its hard rain it can get wet. I live in Phx AZ so its not much of a problem but during monsoon season I will convert it to a short ram intake.

what does a cvt called. Is it expensive. Is it easy to install. Is there a program you have to install. I'm looking into buying a CAI. I had a 2000 Honda SI and it had a short ram intake in it and I heard a nice whistle at 3000 rpms even when I down shifted it at 3000 rpms. I want my maxima to have a sound like that.

I don't know if I understand the post 100% but the CVT is the transmission in the 07-08 maximas. On my 5 speed auto is has a little bit of whistle to it with my injen converted to a short ram intake and it had the same as a cold air intake setup. The only difference for me between the two is the sound at the top of the rpm range at wide open throttle

Oh ok. I was kind of thinking that but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info. I never seen a stick shift maxima in person before. I actually didn't know they came stick shift or I would have looked for one before I bought mine. I like stick shift better.

There 3 Transmision choices.

1. 6 Speed Stick

2. 5 Speed Auto

3. CVT (Continuously variable transmission)
