Default Why Are My Headlights Very Dim?

I have 6000k HIDS. both my headlights are really dim, so dim that I need my fogs on to drive. highbeams dont do anything either. i included a youtube video so you can see what i mean.

2 bad ballasts, at the same time? I guess it's possible, just seems highly unlikely.

Have you made sure the bulbs are seated properly? I had one not seated properly and it appeared very dim as well. Double check that first.

It is unlikely, but both bulbs dying at the same time is too. For them to be that dim it has to be a voltage issue. Maybe the ballast both got water or something in them.

Wolf, you need to get a voltometer, they are pretty cheap and come in handy all of the time. Your voltage after the ballast should be higher than before.

It's one of these: Cen-Tech 7 Function Multimeter

How long have you had the HIDs installed? Have they always been this dim?

A friend of mine tried putting HIDs into a BMW and had problems with the lights flickering. He ended up having to add a relay before the ballast, which did not completely fix the issue. 1 relay per ballast probably would have done it.

Ryan, I wouldn't mess with them with a voltmeter...those HIDs pull ridiculous voltage when they initially fire. Voltage could exceed 2000 volts...you don't want to be messing with that with a regular voltmeter.

How long have you had these installed? Looks similar to when I had an HID kit in halogen projectors, which is the reason I switched to OEM HID's and would never recommend otherwise. Aftermarket HID's may give you the "look", but they pale in comparison to OEM equipment, both in performance and lifetime.

Im sorry for wasting everybody's time on this. I found the problem after i dropped the bumper and took headlights out. Apparently the last time I messed around with headlights. I didnt clamp the bulbs down the right way and they came loose, so the bulb wasnt shinning straight threw. I fixed the problem. works fine now.

Kinda embarrassed that this was the problem. thanks anyway guys
