Default sunroof not working correctly

Hey guys I got a lil issue with my sunroof I was going about 80-90mph with my sunroof open it was getting annoying so without thinking I hit the switch to close but it got stuck in the middle I was able to close it after few days so now when I hit the switch the assembly moves back and forth and the glass tilts up and come down by itself

So only tilt works but when its tilted u can see one side higher the. The other

Sounds familiar anyone ??

A) never close your sunroof at 90mph, LOL.
B) yes this has happened to me. But only in the cold weather. Was it cold out?

It shouldn't be a problem to close your sunroof at any speed. I have the wind deflector so
It doesn't matter for me. But it almost sounds like yours came off its track?

If one side is higher, you probably threw it out of alignment when closing it at high speeds. This can cause the sunroof track to bind up while opening, and, with continued use, has a good chance of breaking one of the small plastic pieces of the assembly.

There are 3 T15 screws on each side of the track.. Loosen them (do not remove entirely), and you'll be able to readjust the level for your roof. It's easier with two people, but doable with one. Start on one side, front screw, checking that the rubber seal is level with the roof panel, tighten the first screw, then adjust the rear of the glass and tighten that screw. Tighten the middle down to lock it into position. Then move to the other side of the vehicle and repeat. Make sure the tracks are clean and well lubed (I use white lithium grease).

If you continue to bind up, find a shop that does convertible tops. Most of them will also service sunroofs, and will be much cheaper than the stealership. Preventative maintenance is required when you're dealing with movable roof assemblies, and most people tend to forget.

What preventative maintenance should be done to our sunroofs?

Simple stuff really.. Periodically check it for excessive dirt and grime, if it looks dry, use lithium grease to lubricate it. Dry, unlubricated, components can stick easily, and cause uneven pressure, in the mechanism. This can lead to binding and breakage.

There are water drains on either side, at the front, so make sure those are clear of leaves/grime/whatever, and use short bursts of compressed air to clean out anything that may have fallen in. Then pour a little water directly into the drain. If it's clear of debris, you should see the water coming out from your rockers, just behind the front wheel wells. There are also drains in the rear, but these cannot be accessed without dropping the headliner.

And, most importantly, if it's bound up, do NOT force it. Sunroof assemblies, and their individual components, are typically made of plastic and/or pot metal. It's all incredibly fragile, and prone to failure.
