Default Nissan External Ground Lighting

Okay everyone, I was playing around on Nissan's website and came across this:

2012 Nissan Maxima Genuine Accessories | Nissan USA

I was looking at the Nissan External Ground Lighting and was wondering if anyone has played around with it before? I am thinking about retro-ing these to the Q if I could.. I just feel like a Nissan OEM piece would be superior to anything aftermarket, plus if I can figure out how its wired, I could retain the same use of the functions they have.

Seeing its just 4 led's I would rather go with the LED tube probably and just wire into the door lights.

Wouldn't this be the same as adding LED's to the puddle lights in the door sill with clear lenses. I mean it's only going to be on when you open the doors right?

It's supposed to turn on with the dome lights, not with the doors. But it's also only supposed to turn on when the car isn't on (or the key in the ignition), so it's not as easy as just wiring it to the dome lights since they'll turn on any time the light is turned on. Is there anything that turns on only when the doors are unlocked or is some sort of module required? I don't feel like thinking...
