Default New Here..Sunroof Issue

Just bought an 05 SL and it has an issue with the sunroof not wanting to shut, it gets about halfway and starts popping, I have to help it the rest of the way. its the single sunroof not the panoramic. Any idea on how to fix it?

I'm tempted to just pull the fuse and leave it shut

I don't know anything about repairing the roof.

Use a little common sense.

Is something on the track obstructing the roof from closing?

Does it open smoothly?

How about the tilt(Vent) feature?

Do you think it is the motor?

Try lubricating the track?

Good luck.

Yea the dealer I got it from smeared yellow grease all over the track, all other features work, tilt up, down, and it opens fine. It sounds like the gear or regulator is badly worn. I don't want to pull the headliner

How long ago did you get it? Can you go back to that dealer to have them fix an issue they should've told you about? The sunroof motor could be on its way out.

mine has a similar issue. It closes but it pops right before completely closing. It makes me cringe every time and its a bit embarrassing.

I also have the same problem. mine stops half way then i have to pull it rest of way. Then make sure it gets even so I dont have leaks. Not sure why its doing this. My gaskets are worn and not sure if its getting in the way of when its. closing. Its on my list of things to work on soon.
