Default New Halogen Housing And An HID Kit

So I have a stupid question, but I'm kinda clueless with this whole HID headlight kit, and projectors and retrofit. Its all so confusing. I bought a set of new OE halogen headlights for my Maxima. I want to get a HID kit from DDM tuning for these new headlights. I keep reading that you should get Hid projectors and install them in the Headlights also? I was wondering if i just kept the halogen projector and installed my HID kit how it would look?

Whats up bro! i just finished my headlight mod so i might be able to help u out. i did the same i bought an extra set of housings for my 06 max and it came with regular halogen bulbs no hid's. As far as i know they only make our headlight housings with projector lenses no need to change. Make sure u check the bulb size before u buy ur hid's. i made the mistake and they sent me 9012's if im correct when my aftermarket housing came with H3 halogen's so i had to order a second set of hid's. here's some pic's of my work.20130713_002334.jpg

u will need to drill a 1 1/2 inch hole above where the stock wires go in on the back of the housing/access panel, its the big light grey part u twist to open. its got a flat surface where u will drill the hole. if ur gonna change ur fog's to hid u do the same for the fog light access panel. u will also have to do some wire splicing, well i did and i didnt see any way around it.

the concept of my mod is on my car now fully functional but its not official. i used tint film and painted on top of the film and hooked the amber led's up as my signal's. i also made my corner light my signal as well with a super bright amber led. i hooked them up so that the led strip comes on when u turn ur parking/headlights on, that means they dont come on when i signal in the day with my lights off but my cornering light will flash regardless. So with the lights on and i signal the led strip and corner lights bounce off each-other like when the led strip flashes on the corner light is off and vice versa. lol its a real head turner! 20120928_161545.jpg

If you have halogen lights. You can get the "Hella E55" projectors and replace with the current halogen ones. By doing so, you will upgrade to D2S bulbs. You will need the igniter and Ballasts as well.

I converted regular halogens to Full XENONS.

You can go the whole changing projector route or you can just buy a decent HID kit and it's plug and play. I have a Morimoto HID kit in my halogen projectors and they look pretty good. I can get pics if you would like to see. Just let me know

They are 6k Morimoto 55w. Very bright with a hint of blue. Looks pure white when on the road though. Thanks dallazcod!
