Default IPCW LED Ruby Red Issue

Hi guys,

So I know there's a lot of threads here about the led tail lights for our 6th gens. They look amazing; however I have heard from many members the quality is just not what it used to be several years back... And that pairs purchased now are chinsier than pairs 3-4 years ago.

I had my own personal nightmare with these already with a defective set that had individual LEDs out of the circle pattern. Got a replacement set September 2012.. And they held strong for 8 months. Now... My second set has an interesting issue I want to see if any of you guys have any input/ suggestions for.

Basically, the new set works... All LEDS intact. However.. The left brake light (when brake is applied) comes on as bright as the running lights. The right tail light, is 4-5 times as bright.

There interesting thing is that when the headlights are off and you hit the brake... Both lights go on but for some reason the left is as bright as running light only. They were installed once and never touched. Are they straight up defective ? Or is there anything I can do? I already pulled the suspect light out and jiggled the pins.. But I may be in for set #3...

I have to pull some pix from my computer if I can... The difference is night and day

When I first installed them last sept... I made sure I bent the pins on both the connector and the led tails. First installation, everything worked great. Didn't touch them after. The left tail light did work since September up until now.

Riddle me this.. Here's the really weird part. The brake light still works... However when the lights are off left is dimmer. When running lights are on... U only see the right and middle brake light. I already contacted the manufacturer but this is frustrating. Technically everything works. But when the brake comes on on left side it's as bright as running light.

Unfortunately, with electronics, you always have to adjust the connections. Especially with any lighting LEDs, etc. if check the connection one more time, clean it up, and re-open the metals to make sure it's touching properly. If still no go, then it's a defect.

I will try this tomorrow. In your opinion... Hearing that they work all fine except the brighter brake light flash... I don't know. Could it be defective? I mean can these pins really pop out ? I know they're very thin... But.. I already took it out, plugged and re plugged.

Also. Has ANYONE heard of the issue I am having? I don't really think anything is bad.. When my running lights are off they still come on but just not as bright

Bump. Ok

Why do the brake lights both go on when lights are off... But not when running lights are on?

Can anybody explain why it "works" but the one light would be dim? Do you really think re adjusting the pins would change something?

I don't pretend to know anything about these highly desired taillights other than the complaints I read about on this forum. Logic tells me you either have an electrical problem with the wiring or something is defective in the light itself.

Question, can you take the right tail light and plug it into the left side wiring harness and vice versa for the left tail light? See what happens.

1. If the problem still exists but is on the opposite side, then you will know the problem is in that one taillight.

2. If the problem still exists but is on the same side, then you will know the problem is in the wiring on that side.

Maybe??

I had all kinds of goofy issues with mine. I messed with the pins 3 different times, and all has been well since...other than the fogging issue...which is unrelated to the pins...

When you say mess with pins, you mean you had an issue and fixing the pins worked?
