Default How Do I Aim My Headlights?

So after I lowered my car, the headlights are too low. They don't shine out far enough. I searched for a thread on how to raise them, but didn't find anything. I tried on my own to raise them but I don't think I did it right. Driving home tonight, they appeared to be slightly higher (shine further out), but the big difference I noticed is that they are pointing WAY to the left (from inside the car).

So, who's done this? I need pics and a detailed description of exactly which bolt/screw to turn and which way to turn it. Thanks!

Click the image to open in full size.

These are the 2 screws you would mess with from the backside of the drivers-side. The lower screw usually has a plastic cover on it so you don't mess it up.
Sounds like you loosend the top right screw to much to aim it down and left.
If you were to tighten it it should come up and left.

this should be the only one to adjust when lowering a car.

The bottom left that you had to take off the white plastic cover would do the opposite. (turn in /"righty tighty" and it goes down and left) (turn back/ "lefty loosey" goes up and Right)

If you "lefty Loosey" either one of these screws, you will cause the inside plastic nut to come off and you will not be able to re-adjusts unless you bake open your headlights and remount the projector to it's adjuster screw.

This is what I think happened in your case Frasher.

^^ I didn't do this one. I only turned the top screw, righty tighty.

Hmm,
The for the passenger side, it would be the opposite for your horizontal (if you righty tighty the top nut, it would point up and left)

A headlight flaw of the Nissan headlights that I have seen is that the "nut" that attaches to that adjuster screw is made of thin plastic, and can break very easily. You could have righty tighty it too much and broke the nut.
You can test this by taking the max out for a ride at night and seeing if the projectors "flop" up and down when you hit a bump.

I turned both the same direction.
I drove home tonight, hitting MANY bumps - no flopping/jaring.

As long as they aren't loose in there, it sounds like you'll be fine.
How is the beam in between the 2 headlights?
Do they meet up at long distance?
The reason they might be noticeably brighter on the left/drivers side is cause your clearing more of the inner chrome housing that slopes down from behind-top to infront-bottom. (hope that makes sense)

They seem to meet like they did before. It seems what happened is I turned both of them to the left (from sitting in the driver's seat). They don't illuminate the right side very much. It's so bright on the left side that I can barely tell when the cornering light comes on.

I just went out and looked at my lights. My last statement about clearing doesn't really make sense cause the inner chrome housing pretty much straight up and down.

My suggestion is to rip off that cover for the lower screw and on the drivers side turn it lefty/loosey a turn or 2, then on the right side lower screw do the same.(maybe 3full turns on the passenger side)

As long as the beams keep hitting in the middle of an open road you should be alright for vision.

There's only one screw that you should have messed with. A Phillips screw driver can only fit on this one from the top, on the driver side and by the cover on the passenger. This will bring the headlight up or down. There's absolutely no need to mess with the other screw at all. I can take pics for you later when I get home from work if you don't get this figured out by then.

I only turned the top ones when realligning my lights. I was able to raise and lower but I realize they appear a little too right. I need to access the bottom ones and try them out.

Sorry dudes, I totally forgot about this. There's nothing to it though. Anyway, the screw in the pic is the only one you need to use from the exterior to move the light up or down. Park the car 25 feet away from a Garage door, that's what I use. It can be a wall or whatever, as long as you can see it. turn that until you desired height. You should not have to remove the headlights to adjust up and down. Also, you can adjust from the top with a Phillips screw driver.

Passenger side, remove the plastic cover to get to it. On this view you can see the v shape in there, that's where the Phillips screw driver goes and you turn.

I don't know how that's possible unless soemthing is broke on them, inside. Those only move the lights up or down. I've used them numerous times.

It's not 100% necessary. When we lower, the front usually comes down more than the rear which means that the headlights are going to lose some of their distance. But if yours is fine for you I wouldn't mess with it.

Hey guys, I have problem with the aiming too, is there any way to reach that bottom screw without taking out the damn housing? my lights are focused left too far but they are pointing at one spot.
