Default Folding Mirrors Not Folding

Looking for some help. Just bought a 2007 max se with a switch inside for the mirrors to open/close. Doesn't matter where the switch is positioned and car is in drive or reverse, the mirrors do nothing. Are they suppose to tilt or fold in? If so, what are some things to try to fix it? Thanks for the help

I think the tilt down feature is standard.

Select either the left or right mirror an put the car in reverse and see if it works. Also try folding the mirrors in or out with the switch.

There may be a blown fuse. Check fuses.

If all fuses are good, figure out if you even have those features.

Thanks for the reply, will check the fuse. Tried the switch in different positions in reverse and nothing happened. Maybe a dumb question but would they install the switch if the option isn't installed? Also mirrors are not tilting down. Trying to get everything on this max working....thx again

Do the power mirrors work at all when you try to adjust them? Forget the folding/tilt for now...can you adjust them with the switch? If not, I'd think you have a fuse issue.

They wont put the switch in if it didnt have the option, unless the previous owner tried to do it.

Fold them in by hand and then try to use the switch to open. Maybe a relay or fuse.

All the fuses checked good. Mirrors adjust with the switch but that's it. It does have the original factory switch installed. What can I check next? Thanks

That unit is one switch.. Try getting a new switch, maybe? It's similar to the master driver side switch.. Sometime the window switches malfunction while the lock switches work fine.

That could also happen to any switch that has multiple functions.

Best option is to get a used switch from the junk yard, get a new one from dealer or eBay.

As far as fuses...did you check ALL of the fuse panels? There is one inside the cabin, and 2 under the hood...

where is the second fuse panel under the hood? Can only find the one right hand side close to the radiator. Went to the Nissan dealer and they want $80 for the switch. And they also couldnt tell me if the mirrors are supposed to tilt in reverse. Also said it's the first they heard of a 2007 max with auto fold in mirrors.........anyone else here have a 2007 max and can tell me what its supposed to do?

There is a fuse panel under the hood just to the left of the battery, as your looking at the engine from the front of the car. There is also another panel on the passenger side, next to the washer fluid reservoir.

What kind of a dealer never heard of an 07 Max with folding mirrors? My mirrors power fold, and also auto tilt. My power mirror switch has a small toggle switch on it that can be positioned either left/right/center. If it is in the center, then the mirrors WON'T move in reverse. If it is left/right, then when you shift into reverse the mirror on THAT side will tilt down.

This is what my switch looks like:

Click the image to open in full size.

It's not the greatest pic, but you can just see the black toggle switch over the top of the open/close button.

Thanks for all the replies, its the same exact switch in the picture. Checked all the fuses (2 in the engine compartment and 1 in the cabin). Tried to manually close the mirrors and have the switch to open them. Didn't work. Anyone know if there is a relay I can check before I spend $80 on a new switch?

o.k., going to pull the switch. Is it just the torx screw behind the fuse box cover and the screw to the far right with clips at the top to remove the lower panel? Don't want to break the plastic.

Yes. Take that panel off and the switch is held with 1 or 2 screws

If the dealer has it in stock, ask them to come outside with you to see if they'd let you try plugging in the new switch before buying it.

Some parts guys are awesome and don't mind having you do that.

Default Re: Folding Mirrors Not Folding

Do you have anybody near you that has a switch that you can swap with to make sure that your replacement switch is good? I'm not sure if all of the Maximas had the power folding option, or if it is part of the "driver-preferred package". If you can, remove the switch, and take a pic of the back of the switch, and also a good clear pic of the wire harness that goes into the switch...a pic showing all of the wires. I'll check it against mine. As Ray stated above, there's always the possibility that someone replaced the original switch with that one, and your vehicle does not have the folding/tilt down option...

Lastly, if you plug matches mine, and you want to send me one, or both of your switches, I'll check them in my can and see if they work, or not...Unless you have somebody close by that can help you with that.

Hay I'm sorry if I'm bringin this thread back from the dead but the passenger side mirror won't auto tilt in revers, my drivers side will but my passenger side won't I've tried reprogramming the memory and switching the toggle switch from side to side but nothing. If I'm going to park I have to tilt it down manually with the switch, and then raise it back up with the switch again... I did see it try to reposition it self ones when I put it back in drive but that was ones... Any help will be greatly appreciated
