Default Fixing Fog Light

I have a fog light out on my 2004, so I was thinking I could just upgrade both. Is that something I can easily switch out myself? I've always taken my problems to the mechanic, so I don't really have any auto knowledge. Or would that risk damaging anything if I tinker around and try to fix it myself? Also, links to a set to buy would be great..as I'm seeing a bunch of different ones out there. My biggest fear about doing it myself is messing something up..and having to eat more costs.

Your fogs are H3 bulbs they can be replaced with out dropping the bumper its a tight squeeze but can be done

It pretty simple turn the cap pull it off, unlock the bulb and unplug it, swap it out and put it back

swapping a bulb and installing an hid kit is pretty much the exact same thing, 2 plugs for the ballast, one to where the original bulb goes, and putting the bulb the same way you would put any h3 replacement bulb

OP if you feel comfortable enough doing an HID kit conversion you should go for it, it looks 100x better and if you run into any problems theres people on the forum 24/7 to help you out

Dont you have to drill a hole in the cap to run the wire through ?

it depends on the size of the ballast, my ballast on my max never warmed up AT ALL and i had the ballast inside of that cap with all the wires tucked and nothing ever happened, of course its recommended to drill a hole but it takes 5 seconds to do, i did it on my Z and it took me less then an hour to do both sides and thats with removing the bumper and finding places to mount the ballasts

You lost me at having the ballast inside the cap

what cap are you talking about ?

I mean the one that covers access to the bulb

Sorry I mixed it up with the headlight of the Z
My mistake, but regardless the drilling part is very simple, when I did it on my max it was my first time ever installing a kit and first time taking my bumper/headlights off etc, its a very simple mod

It's an '04. I'd rather go the kit route, and based on other forums it looks like I can choose from the different light colors? Also, am I safe just buying a kit on eBay? I don't want to go cheap if it's just gonna go bad on me, but at the same time I don't want to overspend. Any kit suggestions? The reason I asked about the complexity, is I don't want to mess my headlights up and have to spend a bunch of money to replace them. But maybe replacing the fogs doesn't even involve tinkering with much? I apologize, but I am not exaggerating when I say I don't know anything about headlights/wiring.

Ddm seems pretty good so far for my headlights, my fogs are xentec from eBay and have been great also. With ddm plan on waiting 2 weeks where most eBay is a few days.

update, DDM is already giving me issues where Xentec never did... with the DDM, I have all day had to turn it off and back on to get one of the ballasts to fire.

My HID kit should be here soon. Kind of nervous about switching it out myself, based on a tutorial I read on here (looks complicating/could potentially fu@# my lights up doing it). Is this something I could take to an auto shop and have them do for a fee? Only issue is I don't know many "custom" auto shops around Corvallis, OR.
