Just put on the MXM4's about a month ago. They've handled snow with ease and are quiet on dry pavement. I can't feel the road as well as before (bf super sport iirc), but overall I'm pleased.

They are being discontinued, though Tire Rack has plenty.

What I found out today at the tire store was that they're stills making them but that there's a new mold for them and they're $33 more each.

I think I've about decided on the DWS. I wanted the Michelin but I'm not paying $1300 for them.

Default Re: Time For New Tires!

My mom's Buick Lesabre came with the DWS on it and i think it is a great tire that offers good all season performance. It is my moms car so i have never pushed the tires to their limits. I did drive the car in some light snow and was happy with the traction. They did get noisy at 15k-20k miles. The sidewalls are soft and provide a smooth ride but are slower to respond at higher speeds then i am accustomed to. The snow traction disappeared when the "S" in the tread pattern wore off. Same with the '"W", the tire was down right scary to drive in heavy rain on the highway. Personally i would not have them on my car because of the soft sidewalls.

Consider the Potenza RE970AS. I put on a set last December. After driving about 3k miles on them in all road conditions to include, dry, torrential rain, and a blizzard in Illinois. Dry and wet traction is superb as i expected. For an all season, the snow/ice traction is outstanding. I have never had an all season that did decent in snow. They are a directional tread pattern though.

My review:

On dry, the car drives like it is on rails. I have pushed them on highway on-ramps and curves making them sing. Have not pushed them hard enough to break traction.

On wet, the traction and hydroplaning resistance is better than i expected. Pushed it hard enough in a turn to make the rear end get loose and the car was very predictable and straightened it up easily.

On snow and ice, i was impressed with the traction and hydroplane resistance in slush. I have never had an all season tire do so well. Drove through the blizzard that hit just west and north of KY at the end of December. 16in in some places that i drove through. Most of the 250 mile trip the snow was deep enough for chunks of ice/snow to continuously hit the bottom of the car and occasionally get plowed by the bumper sending snow over the hood. There was one time i thought i was in trouble. My kidney decided it was time to let go of a small kidney stone. I haste-fully made it to a rest area that had not been plowed at all in the parking spaces and had massive snow drifts. I just plowed into the parking spaces long ways, taking up two or three spots. I had to force the door open and push the snow out of the way. Thirty minutes later i have two cups of shitty coffee and am ready to go. Put it in drive and the car did not move an inch. Just spun. Cut the wheels to the left and right a few times and was able to start rocking the car and got going fairly easily. Throughout the entire trip i did not break traction unless i wanted to.

Stock size. That's the total price from Tire Discounters which includes alignment, road hazard warranty and lifetime rotation and balance.

I got them on sale for a grand. Shop around different tire shops and see if they have any specials. Sometimes you will get a good deal on a great tire.

I checking out tire discounter and you can't go wrong w/ the prices and all the extra they give you. The bad news is that the closest location is in OH. WT*!

Does any one know any location in NYC that gives you extras when you purchase all 4 wheels?

Sorry, very late to this gathering, but Man...the 2 times money was not an issue and I had the chance to purchase Michelins for my past vehicles, they have always left me impressed. Ride Quality, sound, durability...I mean...those tires are Kings for me. I've had more experience with Continentals and they haven't impressed me as much as the Michelins. I need to start saving up some $...My current Max never had the chance to ride on Michelins yet.

A buddy of mine just installed a set but hasn't drove his car yet with new rims and tires... And I agree with don... If you can find a good price on the potenzas use those. If you remember from our meet I used the full life of my potenzas and loved them
