Default 21" Wheels On A Max?!

Hey guys,

I am new to the site and also new to the Maxima. I have had one for 3 months and thought it was fine as is until i stumbled on this site. I saw some rims i wanted but envisioned 21" for back tires and 20" for front tires. Will a 21" rim fit on a 2006 maxima?

How wide are the wheels you're looking at?

21x9 will probably be the widest you could go depending on offsets... Keep in mind though unless it's a show or project car... In the long run it won't be worth it as a daily driver, I stagger my wheels and deal with the problems I encounter because I just really enjoy the way it looks...unless you have a rear wheel drive, there is no true advantage to larger wheels or staggering the rear...
However.. Like I said a 21x8 or 8.5 will be ideal with the correct offset which I have no idea what that needs to be..
And 21 inch tires are rear and more expensive... If you want that look... You would probably be better off 19's up front and 20's in the back... If you do go with 21's... I am def anxious to see how it looks... Good luck in your searches...

A 21" tire is very hard to find and will be pretty expensive. Why dont you do 19 and 20's?? You'll have a way better selection of tires and wheels.

Welcome to the family!!! I wouldn't go with 21's because of the price and small selection of tires. Also the ride quality would probably be a little rough. IMO

Staggered diameter wheels only look good on cars that have larger rear wheel wells than the front (whether it be done by the manufacturer or a fender radius). On our cars it would look completely unbalanced.

I agree...Looks good on the corvette, some muscle cars, and I think one or two ferraris come that way... Again I am not trying to discourage, I personally would like to see it done( not with photoshop) either... But I did consider doing 21's all the way around...before I decided on my EXE Konvex which turned out great I might add...

Yeah, it's more of a muscle or supercar look. I'm not trying to discourage diameter staggering either, but sometimes people see something done on one car not knowing the details of why it looks good on that car and want to do it to a completely different car without those same details.

That's a nice choice wheel I would just stagger the rear in width... That's the look that I like... You can't rotate properly just side to side and you have to make sure you maintain alignment... I would get my alignment checked every time I change my oil just to preserve tire life

Thanks man, can you explain the "stagger the rear in width" and "You can't rotate properly just side to side and you have to make sure you maintain alignment" this is my 1st car so I dont know too much..

He means instead of staggering the diameter (i.e. 20" in front and 21" in the rear), stagger the width (i.e. 20x9" in front and 20x10" in the rear). And if you have any stagger, whether it be diameter or width, you can't rotate your wheels/tires like you normally would to preserve tire life.

The only way to rotate is to have the tires dismounted and then swapped L-to-R so that they keep the same rotational direction, correct?

True... It easier just to keep a good alignment.... I don't have to worry about them damaging my rims remounting and rebalancing
