Default 2010 Winter Tire Sizes

I'm in the market for some winter tires and I'm looking at some different tire sizes. Specifically, in looking at a set of 225/50R18. I know the overall diameter is fine but how will these fit/look on a set of 2006 SE OEM (18s). Not sure if they'll be too stretched or not.

Well, a 225 is kinda a skinny tire especially for our max's. You can get away with it. Plus for winter tires you want to be tall and narrow anyways. If its for winter I think you will be fine.

Check CL, i found almost brand new blizzaks at 245-45-18's for
$250

You know if you can find some 04-06, maybe even 07 and 08 SL Maxima rims. 17in you can just swap out the whole set in Winter and in Spring.

Check Craig's list.

225/55/17 I believe is what I run. 17in rubber is usually cheap than 18in and it's a bit narrower, which Hmax has said.

Thanx for the info guys. I've actually got a stock set of 18's that I use for the winter only...running 20's in the summer.

I have a set of 245/45 winters on the rims now but the tread is pretty much done so I need to pick up a new set. The 245/45 are tough to find and expensive in a winter, and like Hmax said, I've read that narrower is better for winter. I just wasn't sure if a 225 was going to fit properly on the stock 18 rim but from what I'm hearing it should is that right?

Gotcha, you already going smaller with 18's. I guess I would just shop around 245/45/18 local shops, craigslist etc. I actually bought a couple used Blizzaks, work well enough until they wear out.

Believe it or not, it's tough to find a set of winters in 245/45...the manufacturers that do make them sell out fast. Talked to Belle tire yesterday and they could get me a set but they would have to order two from one warehouse, one from another and the last one from another one. They go fast!!

I'm just exploring my options.
