Default Subwoofer Wiring Question

Hey guys I have a quick question, so my birthday is coming up, and this means gifts, so my brother is planning on getting me a subwoofer system again, but this time i want to switch it up. I'm thinking of putting (3) Rockford Fosgate p2's totaling 900 watts rms.

Currently I have a Rockford Fosgate r-1000 amp that pushes 1,013 rms at 2 ohms.

So my question is if I want 3 subwoofers which would be best
To get so I can get the most power out of my amp/subs.

If I get dual 2 ohm my wattage is either rated at
900 watts wired at 1.34 ohm
Or
900 watts wired too 3ohms

If I get dual 4 ohm I'll get
900 watts wired at 2.67 ohms

Again I have a 1000 watt amp that pushes 1.013 at 2 ohms

Which subs would be better to get those 1000 watts? Dual 4ohm subs or Dual 2ohm subs?

I know how too wire them bro, that's not my problem, my problem is which subwoofer am I suppose to get, because neither of them are going to equal 2 ohm flat with 3 subwoofers, so I'm trying to decide if I should get 3 dual 2ohm or 3 dual 4ohm too get the most power out of my amp

MTX and JL make boxes with 3 woofers, (I had one) the had them wired for a 4ohm load single input. I think they were using 12ohm speakers.......let me see if I can find something more.

Yep

T410X3A mobile enclosure for optimized mounting and better acoustic matching. It comes loaded with three 10" Thunder4000 12-ohm woofers (4-ohm total impedance)

So does your amp bridge mono into 4ohms = 2ohm load right?

Okay yeah, it's not a two channel, single into 4ohm 500w, so my idea won't get you the maximum. Won't 3 single voice coil 8ohm get you there too? I was under the impression that SVC were a little more efficient than DVC, either way I think you will be slammin.

Yeah bro but the subs I want don't come in 8ohm they're either dual 4 or dual 2, I'm just trying to see which ones would slam more with my amp:/ I'll probably end up getting dual 2's and see how that goes

Brother, it's your car and it's your money. If you get yourself 2 nice 12" subs and push them with a quality amp...I don't see the need for a 3 sub setup...unless you are doing competition or something. 2 12"s will chase you right out of the car...

You want some high-end subs...look here:

Sub Woofers - SSA STORE

I guarantee you that 2-12"s will be more than enough...

You're absolutely right bro, but for the same price that I can get 2 really nice 12's, I can get 3 10's that are the same quality or maybe a bit louder than what 2 12's put out but you gotta admit 3 10's would look way cooler than 2 12's

Agree. If you do it RIGHT, I don't even see the need for a 2 sub set up. My boy has one eight inch sub that hits harder than most setups I've heard with 2 or 3 tens. It shakes my entire house when he pulls up. One eight!!! Even if you do one or two 12s it's all about quality not quantity IMO.

Damn I wonder what subwoofer it is I'd love to have that lol, but yeah you're very right, quality over quantity, I'm also looking at maybe getting one 15, such a hard decision lol

My amp is ID,its the 1200.1. My sub is an RE Audio SX12. Its one of the older models, the newer ones arent as good. If you can find an IDmax 12" and put 1000 watts to it you'd be happy.

I understand what you're saying...but at the end of the day, how loud does it really need to be? I've got 2 8" subs in ported boxes that are getting 350w rms/each. I haven't even adjusted the gains...they are at minimum voltage. It is exactly what I am looking for in my bass needs. I can crank up the sub output via the H/U and rattle the windows if I want to. I never really got into the "I need everybody within a 15 mile radius to hear my bass". I don't think I could drive the car with the bass that loud...

So yes, 3x10"s would be louder than 2x12"s...but how loud does it need to be?

I'm actually debating getting rid of the 2x8" setup and going with a single 10", or a single 12" just to free up a little bit of trunk space. The only thing holding me back is that I'll have to pick up a new amp to push the sub...

If you need amps, I got amps lol.

But yeah, ever since I got a loud music ticket a long time ago I never really crank my bass, but there's those certain occasions when I'm on the freeway that I just crank the crap out of my radio, it's a weird concept, it's like I don't need the power there but I want to have it anyways.

Hoping you are talking high end amps here, Don is not the slacker when it comes to quality audio equipment, Just FYI

Trust me 2 quality 12s will be better than 3 10's. Also the sub enclosure matters a lot! I have 2 RE SE subs and Alex has 3 Memphis 10s and I am louder and deeper than him.
