Default Speaker Position Question

Hey guys, just a quick question or opinion from the audio experts on here. I'm going to end up replacing my door speakers here really soon in my 2004 se with bose. I'm going to get a pair of components and a pair of 2-ways. I was looking at the Polk Audio DXi6500 speakers for the components and the Pioneer TS-D1602R for my 2-ways. My question is, would it be best for me to have my Polk speakers (just the woofer part) in back, and the 2-ways up front? Or should I have the whole Polk System up front and the Pioneers in back? It's all about distribution of sound, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I have a 1/4 in. speaker depth extender so I'm fine there as well. I have a 12' bazooka sub in the back so i've got enough bass either was and a pioneer avh-p3300bt headunit already.

p.s. how big are our tweeters? and should I watch out for getting component speakers with tweeters too big? or will it be a problem?

Thanks in advance!

I had to do a little customization with my tweeters, but I got them mounted in the factory position. The Morel Dotech Ovation Tweeters I have are 2" tweeters, and they were pretty close to stock size. I would put the complete comp set up front and the coax's in the rear doors. Pull the subs in the rear deck, and just leave it open to vent your subs into the cabin.

That's a great suggestion, that's exactly what I was thinking. What did you do to the tweeters to get them to fit?

I did the same as Don referenced in his post. Components up front in factory position and coaxes in the rear doors. For my tweeters, I removed the stock ones and mounted the new ones (rainbow slcs) on the outside of the black plastic that covers the stock tweeters.

I didn't try to take apart the tweet assembly to make it fit inside the triangular space where the stock ones area, just a flush mount on the outside. It's clean and I like it.

Sounds like a good idea. I haven't taken a look at the tweeter setup, but how hard was it to just mount it on the outside?

Simple. My tweets had a hole in the casing and came with screws and nuts as part of the hardware. Just took a drill to the black plastic to get the necessary hole size for the screw, which was about 3 of the smaller black mesh holes drilled out.

No, my friend, I said my Morel tweeters are 2"!

I mounted mine in the stock location. I used the metal bracket and double-sided taped them to the bracket. If you pull the sail panels, you'll see what I mean!

yeah, you can cram some fairly large tweeters in the stock sail...you just gotta tweak it a bit like Don did to his.

I opted for the custom a-pillars to house my DLS tweets, aimed on axis...and i just thew some boston acoustic coaxials i had from my old max in the rear doors.

I got my Tweets on my A Pillars (Rainbow SLC's) on axis and my Hertz MLK 165's in the front door. I have the MLK tweets just did not use them.

OP use the best components up front
