Default Remove Bose From 06 Non-Navi Maxima

I checked this site up and down for the specific information that I need (I even googled), and could not find it, so I am finally posting, hoping this isn't a I need some serious help - I have an 06 maxima with bose (i've heard it's a beast), non-navi - I want nothing more to do with Bose - I want to replace my HU with a pioneer single din, install 2 sets of polk db 6 1/2 component sets (front and rear doors), install a set of polk 6x9's in the rear deck, and I suppose let an audio shop install my amp for a couple of mtx 12's cause I've never done an amp install before - I think I have to run new speaker wires, but I have no idea of how to do that and can't find ANY specifics ANYWHERE detailing what speaker wire to buy, gauge, where to run the wires, what I need since I REFUSE to keep the bose, etc. I'm almost positive that the amps for the speakers and the subs (none of which I'll have any use for) are all under the rear deck, although I have not actually 'laid eyes on' them - the FSM said they were. Does this mean that all the speaker wires are running to the back? I do NOT wanna end up uploading a picture of a burning car as proof that I should have gone to a professional. I also don't want to end up with a very expensive (not to mention, very large) paper weight. Can you PLEASE guide me on this? I have the Axxess ASWC for steering wheel functionality, a single din replacement dash kit, a nissan harness (scoshe NN032), and the headunit is a Pioneer DEH8400BH. I just can't imagine paying someone 50 bucks per each set of speakers, 75 bucks per amp install, sub box fee, 40 bucks for headunit install, etc., etc. Can I get a walkthrough like Final Fantasy VII?!? And I think I've sat here over 10 minutes deciding whether or not to hit 'submit new thread . . .'

First off I had a very hard time reading and understanding what you're trying to say.

If you have no experience with audio work leave it to the pros. We could help you to an extent, but some times things happen that are hard to convey in words, its easier if some one there to help you.

basically, do I have to run new wires from my component sets and 6x9's to the aftermarket headunit, or is it pretty much plug and play, so to speak? I've changed out my speakers and HU in my hondas before, but i'm not quite sure how to approach this bose challenge - what do i do in terms of the factory amp? Do i still use that, or disconnect it, or what? And believe me, I understand if your response will be simply 'professional.'

I left the Bose amp in place and switched out all speakers and the HU. I didn't run new wire either.

Don't take my response as being a jerk off or anything, that's not my intent. Its just some times it seems easy to do some of this stuff, but once you get into it,it becomes more involved than you thought. When it comes to most audio stuff, that's almost always my answer.

I'm not sure of their ohm. I called Crutchfield, told them what I had and these were one of a couple they recommended. They sound pretty good, I have no complaints.

All the speaker wires run to the back of the car to the amp under the the rear deck, then back up to the doors. There are outputs that go from the amp to the factory subs. The factory subs run off its own mini amp, it's inside the black plastic cover that fits over where the magnet would normally be.

Brother,

If you are handy with tools, and not afraid to take things apart...I say do it yourself.

Personally I would ditch the bose amp too and get a nice 4 channel amp for the doors. What kind of setup EXACTLY do you want to run? If you were anywhere near me, I'd help you, no problem.

I ran 16g speaker wire to my doors, and 12g to my sub. You could get away with 18g, or maybe 20g to the doors if you are not going to run a monster amp. I have 350w rms going to my front comps.

As far as the car catching on fire...I've seen enough "pro" installs go up in smoke...

Right now, I just wanna run my comps off my radio (has F,R, and Sub outputs on back) - I don't know if I actually could run 2 sets of AND some 6x9's from that deck - I HAVE an alpine mrv-f340 4-channel amp lying around and can use that for highs, if needed. I've always run my mtx's off my soldier of an mrv-t407. I'm not trying to win any competitions, but I like my sound to be the s***. I want to ditch the bose completely!!! Could I run my 6x9's off the 4 channel alpine, also (yes, I'm ditching the bose 8's, too!) - do I have to get the metra (if so, which one) or can I just hook my speaker wires together from the pioneer to the car harness? I know it's a lot to ask, but I'd appreciate some step by step, cause I'd rather do it myself - i've always said that if you give me a screwdriver and a book, i can take a car apart . . .

And thanks, Cheeto, I was wondering if that were the case

Why would you even want to run 6x9's? Put some nice comps in the front doors, and a decent set of 6.5's in the rear doors, sub/subs in the trunk and call it a day.

You should probably run new speaker wire since all of your OEM wire runs through the Bose amp.

I'm not sure if your head unit will power your comps adequately...they will play, but they will be really underpowered.
