Default Need Help With Good Amp

Well i just bought a new subwoofer. Got a alpine sws-12D2. Don't have room for to 12's anymore and don't want the extra weight back there that come with 2 12's and a box. Bought a kenwood kac-5109d. This amp sucks. So im sending it back to buy another. I will be getting a swr-12D4 in the future. Should have got it in the first place. So i need a good amp. The one i bought seemed to loose it's punch after a few minute. The bass would cut out a little then you would here it come back in and out again very annoying.. So i need suggestions on amps that would be able to run the type r in the future. Any one's that you have personal experience with would be great. And nothing that will break the piggy bank...lol. Running 2 gauge..

Is that a good brand. Will it run with out bass going in and out.. An there seems to be a Zeus and Bruts series of those amps. Which one?

Rockford fosgate has always been great me for, so sad I just sold a brand new r-1000 that I never used for $75 to my friend

My 12 was hitting at 4 ohms. but when i wired it for 1 ohm. I guess the amp couldn't handle it even though it said it could.. I guess i really need a amp that can really hold up to 1 ohm. Since my woofer is a 12d2. Until i get the swr12d4 later on an wire it to 2 ohms..

When it comes to this stuff good and cheap dont go together. Spend a little more for some thing quality and be done with it.

New Audiopipe APSM1500 1500W Class D Car Audio Amplifier Amp 1500 Watt Apsm 1500 784644415849 | eBay

I had this amp back when I had 2 12" RE SE's and it pushed those RE's to their limits. If your smart with this amp and don't get gain happy then get an Alpine Type R 12" and this amp and it will sound very good. Plus, its pretty cheap.

I've had a couple of amps through my modding life. I've own a hifonics amp and it was decent, at the time that was my first "big" amp. I currently have a JL 1000/1 amp in my truck and I think it's a ok amp but you are paying extra for the name because I also have a Fosgate Power 1000 amp and it seems to be more powerful in all aspects. For amp you get what you pay for. If you want clean power get ready to spend some $$$. With that said your Alpine speakers do not require a high end amp, there in the mid range class so you don't need to spend a lot of money on one.

That was what i was thinking. Plus im not big in the audio stuff anymore. Just want some bass when i feel like it. but don't want to sound like i shopped at pep boys.lol. So type r's are considered mid range. That is what i will be getting. I have never had a problem with anything alpine. Thats why i stick with them. Just want a good amp that will do the job. The jl 1000.1 would be great but im not spending 400 on a amp... Just to push 1 sub..

I here what your saying. But that is a little over board for one sub. The kenwood was awesome but kept cutting the bass out on me. Couldn't handle the 1 ohm load. Wired to 4 ohms it hit good. But i want to go 1 ohm since this speaker can only go 1 or 4 ohm..

Stop by one of the best audio store in the Va beach area. An picked up this bad boy. This thing slams my type s 12 at 4 ohms. Can't wait to see what the type r at 2 ohms does. Need to go back for a capacitor. My car cut off. lol....

Alpine M-110

650w rms x 1 @ 4 ohms

1100w rms @ 2 ohms

And my 12. looks cleaner with that big box gone. An makes more bass..

Thats a nice amp. Alpine does a good job with their amps, usually under rated. Be careful that will be a lot of power on a single Type R. Watch your gain settings.

Yeah. I had a long conversation with the guy. I looked at the jl 1000.1 and the alpine. I leaned towards the alpine because i know they are a good brand. And everyone seemed to think i made a good choice.. And who knows i might just save for a better sub then the type r. I have just heard good things about the type r.. Really need to get a capacitor. looked at high out put alts. That is out of the question...
