Default Cerwin Vega Speakers

I'm researching speaker replacement for my '06 SE w/out Bose and I came across Cerwin Vega Speakers. I'm concerned with placement of the tweeters. Would also like to know whether the base system has an amp.

Possible layout:

Head unit: Sony DSX-S300BTX Digital Media Receiver w/ Bluetooth (currently installed)

Front: Cerwin Vega HED 65 Components

Rear door: Cerwin Vega HED 65

Rear deck: Cerwin Vega 69

With no Bose system you'll have to mount the tweeters in your door panels.

What do you mean "base system"?

Personally Im not a fan of CV speakers. They used to make some nice home speakers but for car Id look at other stuff.

When I refer to the base system it's the non-Bose system installed. I'm also looking at MB Quart. Would like something I can install w/out cutting or modifying where the tweeters are currently located if possible.

Thanks for the response.

Im not sure where the tweets mount on a non bose system. If anything buy some comps that allows you to install them as co ax's.

Let ask a couple more questions...

Are you going to amp them or is it just HU power? Will you ever amp them? How loud do you listen to your music?

MB used to be good before they got bought out by Maxxsonics.Thier quality has gone down quite a bit.

I listen loud, very loud and if thats you look at Image Dynamics...not cheap but they can take a shit ton of power. Im feeding mine over 120wpc with no problem. They are rated at 125 rms so I could easily feed them 200wpc with no problems, just being careful with my gain.

If you want SQ it doesnt come cheap. This is always my advice, do it right the first time. Dont cut corners if you want it to sound the way it should....

You are going to get what you pay for...I'm running Morel Dotech Ovation 6 comps in my front doors. I am sending them 350w rms/side and they handle it without any problems.

You guys are serious about your music. I have the slightest clue to anything about speakers, but I love my factory Bose system. Maybe it's the sound system I had before that makes me love it so much.

If you ever listened to a nice system you'd hate the Bose.

I love music and always want the most out of it.

I love music as well, I have over 1200 store bought CD's around 200 tapes and about 30 vinyls. I've just never invested in a serious sound system, so Bose sounds damn good for a factory radio to me. Also, I want to be able to hear when I'm older Dave. I don't want a a box in my trunk anymore, I've moved away from that.

At first I didn't like the Bose. The system can be too bright and seriously lacks on the low end but other than that the stock Bose system is great. And I've changed speakers on pretty much every car that I have ever owned. Add a decent sub it sounds great IMO. The soundstage is probably the best feature of the Bose system.

I'm with you there...my 2 Hertz 8" subs are PERFECT! I get the low fill from the subs, and can rattle the windows if I want to!!! I don't listen to my music all that loudly, but I want it to sound good!!!

The MB's are a little sharp for my liking, but some people prefer their highs to be on the sharper side. I myself am more into a neutral sounding system, with soft highs that can be well extended without being harsh.

If you're looking into sheer sound quality, I would look into Morel, Dynaudio, Rainbow Audio, and DLS Audio.

Like someone said, sound quality is not cheap, and will take lots of prep and planning to make it all blend together nicely. What is your overall budget for this build?

I'm looking at $350 to start off with. I have to get my struts replaced tomorrow so that's around a grand.
