Default Re: Batteries?!

I think the Pyle one from Sears is meant to be a secondary battery. I use an Autozone Duralast Gold. I have multiple amps and it seems to hold up well. Plus it has 3 year full replacement.

Linton to be honest, with what you got going in, I think you will be fine with one battery. I have a Bosch battery from pep boys and it works super well. Granted I do have a secondary battery but i really dont need it

Oh yeah it will hold up fine. I have an Image Dynamics 1200.1 sub amp and an Exile 800.4 that rated at 160x4. I play my system very loud and my battery has no issues. Just get a good grounding kit. Paging @1hawaii50

It's a kit that is usually 5 wires. They connect to various locations from you engine to other spots in the engine bay. I can't explain how it works, all I can say is that it does work. It will stop almost all of your dimming. This is a must have with a decent system.

OK SO it basically distributes the power throughout the car and not just one spot

It improves the grounding. Instead of being grounded in just one spot you're getting multiple points of contact throughout the car.

This is Autozone's version of an AGM battery. I'd consider it a step up from the Gold. It also shares the 3 year warranty. I just purchased this yesterday after considering Optima, Kinetik and Stinger. I did a lot of homework prior to the purchase on prices/performance. The warranty was what sealed the deal.

Duralast Platinum/Battery (34R-AGM) | AutoZone.com

If you're running multiple amps, the big 3 upgrade(aka grounding kit) is a must have cheap solution to maximize the output of your amps. Considering the factory electrical was not intended for the voltage you're subjecting it to.

I wouldn't use yellow top. The CCA aren't that much anyway. If you're doing a lot of audio installs, get a Kinetic battery. HC1800, HC2000, or HC2400 should be sufficient enough for your needs.

If that's too pricey, Go to Kragen or O'Reilly's, and they have a battery that has almost a 1000 CCA. That's what I put in my panda and my silver max, running 2 13.5"W6V2-D4 subs, 1000/1 JL Amp, and another 500/1 JL amp. Works like a charm. The battery is about $100 or so.

Good to know. I've been looking to replace my Red Top ( I've had it since '05 ) with a Yellow because I'm finally ready to upgrade my stereo system. I almost dropped the two bills for one yesterday but thought I should at least do some more research before doing so...glad I did! Thanks!

I've had Red Top, Yellow Top and Blue Top for different applications including DURALASTS. I've found Interstate batteries to be the best value for the money especially in a starter battery. They have a very wide distribution network and can be found in practically every state through dealers.

I really like INTERSTATE batteries, many of them are OEM apps for new cars, their MEGATRON PLUS (MTP) line has an 85 month warranty which is what I am running in my FX45 @ 750 CCA.

Batteries - Mega-Tron Plus - 85 Months - 750 CCA

Did you pop the tops and refill with distilled water? Or was this one of their AGM/gel batteries?

I bought a Red top in 2005 for my Taurus. Went to Afghanistan for a year and the car sat under a tree outside the whole time. In February of 2007 I got in and the son of bitch started right up. Car got totaled in 2008. The battery survived the wreck (it was a frontal impact). I pulled it out and its still running strong in my mom's car.
