Backup Cam Works With Stock Console.
Hey guys I'm new here! This may be a noob question but here it goes. I have an 04 max SE I was wondering I the backup cam would work with the stock console or do I have to buy the added piece which I forgot the name of. Or if you have any other suggestions on installing it (new console) like a pioneer.

First off let me welcome you to the site by saying  and welcome aboard!! The way your description sounds, is that your car is not navigational system equipped? If that's the case, no you can not have a backup camera without a different Head unit Or something like thisSafesight SC4104-SC0301 Back up camera system with 4.3 inch Rear View Mirror and license plate camera or this Safesight SC0301-SC3102 3.5" Reverse back up monitor with license plate mount reverse camera Personally I would not do one of those add on kits, the first kit would loose the functions of the stock mirror and option 2 would just be plain fugly. The best but most expensive option in by opinion is gaining that function through a aftermarket head unit like a Pioneer as mentioned. I personally have this oneAmazon.com: Pioneer AVH-P8400BH 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7" Widescreen Touch Panel Display, Advanced App Mode, Built-In Bluetooth, and HD Radio™: Electronics and love it!! As do @officerfrasher and @07maximan Let us know if we can answer any questions for that HU or something similar

Sorry for the late reply was quite busy. THANKS so much for all this useful information. Already glad I finally signed up. One more question though if i were to get the SL which is equipped with the nav can i just buy an ebay back up camera and hook it up

backup camera will not work with the stock console. If you want a backup camera in your behicle youre either going to need a seperate screen sold everywhere online, or you can go the more expensive route by getting a headunit that supports backup cameras, if you need any help you can pm me directly
