Default Re: What's Involved In Removing Passenger Side Axle?

that is the long version ,

take the wheel off
taken off the struts (2) bolts off, and the tie rod end bolt.
remove the cotter pin,
32 deep socket to loosen the axle nut.
(3) 10 mm bolts that hold the passenger to the carrier bearing ( bracket )
hit the center axle shaft with a RUBBER HAMMER ( ONLY )
to loosen it , turn the HUB/ROTOR forward and pull the axle splines from the hub,
then pull the axle out from the tranny,

Remember when you put them back in, they go in and pop inside the tranny, make sure you feel/hear the axle pop in or else its NOT all the way in.

Also have a oil pan as fluid will leak out from the seal when the axle is out.

Got it thanks guys, i just really needed to know sizes for the carrier bearing. Yo dolla i bought the axel from you today, all im gonna need to replace is the shaft going into the carrier bearing so technically i dont really need to remove the whole axel out if this is anything like my evo.

The axel does separate from the bearing right ? Reason why i ask is because the driver side axel on the evo has a carrier bearing and can be separated. thx in advance.

Forget the EVO, its apples n oranges. Meaning its 2 different things. U need to follow Nizmo's instructions, its the best way to get it done.

Carrier bearing is only on the passenger long side,

the driver side is much more easier

and Dolla is correct , its a 12mm

is the 2007 passanger axle different than the 2006? I am thinking it would be the same but I do not know if they use different teeth or whatever on the CVT transmission.
